Crackles with Multithreading enabled

Postby 4damind » Thu Jan 17, 2019 4:10 pm

For various reasons, the current implementation of multithreading and the way audio buffer/voices are handled does not work properly with Cubase. It generates random crackling in the rendered audio. If disabled, it works fine.

64Bit, Cubase 10, Windows 10

cubase doesnt like plugins with multi-threading enabled, it prefers to handle it itself

Say what? I have quite a few plugins with their own internal multi thread enabled that work fine in Cubendo.

Hmm... all my other plugins with a MT feature are working excellent with Cubase.
IMO it's a bug.

I too have several MT on plugins that work fine in Cubase...

Alas, Dune 3 is one of them... not getting the crackles you are getting, sorry.

depends how its coded.

when MT is on in vst, it may allow vst to multithread, or allow host to multithread the vst

This issue with Cubase has been reported before and going back to Dune 2.....

I've seen another developer say of his plugin's Multi-Threading that if you use more than one instance in a project that it's not a good idea to use MT.

Not sure if that also applies to Dune but again the issue with Cubase has been reported for quite some time. I don't own Cubase but I do not experience crackles in any of the other DAWs I use.
