Just bought an RME Digi 9632/52 from ebay. Installed the card into my PC (Vista 32bit) and got the Asio drivers installed (they're not signed drivers as they're only XP drivers, so only the Asio ones work)
I can get the card working - selecting the appropriate Asio driver from the dropdown list in Orion on the "Audio outputs". However, if I press the "ASIO Settings" button 9 times out of 10 Orion just crashes. Does the "not responding" thing but very quickly (like in a few seconds) aborts and dissapears.
There's no error messages or anything useful.
If however, I use the little widget that appears in the system tray to access the Asio settings there's no problem. So there is a work-around.

Re: Crashing when using Asio PanelI've never experienced anything like that. Try installing ASIO4all and see if it works OK from Orion.

Re: Crashing when using Asio PanelI had problems like that in the past, too. Orion didn´t really crash (at least in this case) when pressing the ASIO panel button, but an "ASIO error" mesage were often shown. It worked after a few tries, but the audio engine was working correctly, so this was just a little annoyance.
So if there´s no problem with your soundcard except that ASIO error thing within Orion and you still can execute the ASIO panel, you shouldn´t care about that. Btw, it was the M-Audio Delta 1010LT which was having these issues (and a bunch of other problems, but I´m not sure if the card was damaged by myself) and it is a PCI card, too. 'Have you checked for IRQ problems? Can you test the card on other systems with Orion? And what was your audio interface before? Is your Windows installation relatively fresh? "I need more details."
Re: Crashing when using Asio PanelI used the RME HDSP 9632 under Vista and now Windows 7-64 without problems in ASIO mode, some other Orionauts do as well. Not sure about the Digi, but I suppose they all use similar or even the same drivers. Definitely be sure to get the latest firmware and drivers.

Re: Crashing when using Asio PanelHi - the install of Vista is from "many years ago". It's my "work PC" at the moment so I'm loathed to Nuke it for fear of c0cking something up and failing to make sure I've got all my settings saved
Anyhooo... It's an RME Digi9652 card (not the HDSP) so the latest drivers are only for XP (so they will work under vista32) but only as ASIO drivers, so I can't use Asio4All as it doesn't recognise the card as there's no "normal" windows drivers for it. The previous "sound card" was (and still is) the onboard sound so nothing special. I also use a cheapy behringer USB audio interface which does appear under the Asio4All control panel. I'm just trying dipping my toe in audio interface side so that I can hook up my hardware synths with Orion. At some point when I get round to getting a new PC I'll get an up to date audio interface ! cheers Andy
