I was working on a track right before I could save a backup. For some unknown reason this file now crashes Orion with the message "Orion has stopped working" and I cannot recover the file. I don't think I added any strange plugins or synths before I saved, and now cannot recover the file.

Re: Crash with no error - Need to Open File!Is anyone able to try opening this song and seeing if they don't experience a crash? I've tried opening it in a demo version of Orion 8 at work and still experience the crash.
I'd really like to recover the work, and seems the options to open a song without VST effects or instruments is no longer available...
Re: Crash with no error - Need to Open File!Tried to open the file but it just closed Orion, strange crash, sort of just faded away. I didn't have allot of your plugging's so just cancelled them and Orion seemed to be at a point where the mixer would normally show when it just, closed? As you say kmatm there wasn't an error file, strange, sorry I could not have been more help.
Re: Crash with no error - Need to Open File! Thanks for trying heks.I've tried on 3 computers now and an old version of Orion v7.62 which still had the 'disable VST and DX plugins' option, with the same result - crash.
I'm wondering if there's a sample (drum shot) that Orion doesn't like, I usually save those to each track. I've tried renaming all my VST, sample folders etc so Orion can't find them (and not load a potential problem), but again still results in a crash. Anyone have a super secret tool that can stop sounds from loading? I've found the crash often happens right as Orion attempts to open a drum rack, which would have been the last thing I added before I save the song.
Re: Crash with no error - Need to Open File!yes i reported some crash while saving a drumrack, i will send your sfs to Rich !

Re: Crash with no error - Need to Open File!the only work around i see is to not use bundled drumrack or use the autosave feature, you will be able to load the previous save
Yamaha CS-30, Roland SH-1, Roland MKS70, Focusrite Scarlett 18i6, Yamaha FS1R, Oberheim Matrix 1000, Novation Remote 37SL, Korg Legacy, Alesis M1Active 520, Novation Launchpad Pro, Push2, Intel i7-7700HQ
Re: Crash with no error - Need to Open File!Use auto backup !
Orion will keep track of 10 most recent versions. Yamaha CS-30, Roland SH-1, Roland MKS70, Focusrite Scarlett 18i6, Yamaha FS1R, Oberheim Matrix 1000, Novation Remote 37SL, Korg Legacy, Alesis M1Active 520, Novation Launchpad Pro, Push2, Intel i7-7700HQ
Re: Crash with no error - Need to Open File!So then you'll have 10 versions that crash ?
Anyway have you tried moving the drum.dat and drum2.dat files temporarily to see if that helps ? I'm not sure if those files reference the Drum Rack or the Pro 9 but I suppose it's worth a shot to see if the file will open........
Re: Crash with no error - Need to Open File!
no, you should see a crash while saving if i remember correctly, so you will have your song corrupted and the last 10 version fine Yamaha CS-30, Roland SH-1, Roland MKS70, Focusrite Scarlett 18i6, Yamaha FS1R, Oberheim Matrix 1000, Novation Remote 37SL, Korg Legacy, Alesis M1Active 520, Novation Launchpad Pro, Push2, Intel i7-7700HQ
Re: Crash with no error - Need to Open File! Thanks everyone, yes I see a problem with drumrack #4 too. It was a drum set from a different computer that couldn't find the files (Due to being on a different drive). I removed most of them, added a few new drum sounds, then got the problem.
I don't use the autosave feature, I save often, and regularly save newer versions of tracks before adding/changing too much (eg Track1a, 1b, 1c etc...). I didn't know there are drum.dat and drum2.dat files - will have to locate these and try, thanks for the suggestion!
Re: Crash with no error - Need to Open File!I can't find drum.dat - searched all the logical places.
Re: Crash with no error - Need to Open File!
try auto backup in the pref ! Yamaha CS-30, Roland SH-1, Roland MKS70, Focusrite Scarlett 18i6, Yamaha FS1R, Oberheim Matrix 1000, Novation Remote 37SL, Korg Legacy, Alesis M1Active 520, Novation Launchpad Pro, Push2, Intel i7-7700HQ
Re: Crash with no error - Need to Open File!
Only if those versions weren't corrupt. If the song is corrupt from the start saving it won't help.......
Re: Crash with no error - Need to Open File!
They are in Program Files/Orion here. Maybe they reference a third party plugin but I don't know why the .dat files would end up there......... Anyway it's about the only thing I could think of that you haven't tried yet........... EDIT: I just checked on my laptop which has a fresh install of of Orion 64 bit and the Drum .dat files are there. Program Files (x86)/Orion
