What? I have Intel Core 2 Duo and it is not 64bit processor. Kat's processor also is not (check intel's documentation).

Have you even tried installing XP64 or Vista64? Core2's are 64-bit processors and should therefore run 64-bit OSes. I've just bought a new laptop that's a Core2Duo and that is 64-bit capable, although I'm running 32-bit Vista on it.

Yes, Intel's Core 2 Duo has 64-Architecture, but it is not 64-bit processor, read this:
http://developer.intel.com/technology/intel64/index.htm

and read this (Kat's proc):
http://ark.intel.com/cpu.aspx?groupId=30783

and this is mine:
http://ark.intel.com/cpu.aspx?groupId=29761

you can also read this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EMT64#Intel_64

Intel 64 is just a new name for EM64T, which is Intel's implementation of AMD's 64-bit technology.

Are you sure you're not confusing Core Duo and Core2 Duo? The latter will run a 64-bit OS, the former will not.

Read this again:

It is still not 64-bit processor and You still can't install eg. Vista 64 there.

Can you quote or point specifically to where it says you can't. I don't see it anywhere. I do see a link to a pdf that tells you how to set up XP64 though and if it can run XP64 then why not Vista64?

Here (the pdf link from within your link):

http://developer.intel.com/technology/i ... gGuide.pdf

Why would they tell you how to do that if you can't?

Intel® 64 Architecture Ticked

So your CPU can run Vista64 and Orion64. If not, your processor has serious physical faults.

I have looked through those links and it does not say anywhere that Core2 Duo is not 64 bit. Specifically, the Core 2 Duo is designed using Amd X 64 bit technology. Have a look at this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_Core_2

Out of interest Mark, what motherboard are you using? and what version of Orion?

If I couldn't install Vista 64 and I had set up correctly bios. Hmm... maby that is true that something with my proc is not good. Hmm... I must investigate a little bit more to it.

And many thanks for links.

Intel PM45.

Intel Core2Duo P8400 (2.26 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB, 3 Mb L2 cache).
GeForce 9700M GT (512Mb)
4Gb DDR3
320Gb HDD
18.4 inch Full HD sreen.

Vista Home Premium 32-bit, though I have seen the system sold with 64-bit, which I may get for a dual-boot system.

Latest Orion version, which is the latest beta, which is running nicely. I had the latest Orion retail version, which was running well too.

Edit: I have asio4all installed, but will install an external USB soundcard soon.

take your pc to a shop and let them sort it out, much easier.

already taken it to the shop, they are as baffled as me. They seem to think there is an incompatibility issue with Orion, the motherboard and the processor, and have offered to change the motherboard once I have tested the software. Hassle
