Hi,
I've been working on a remix for a few days (contains wavs), and now all of a sudden this morning, the file's been crashing Orion everytime I open it, which of course means I've lost EVERYTHING (as far as I know there's no way to get midi info or anything out of a file w/o opening it in Orion?).
Everytime I open the file, it opens several generators, then the whole program just disappears, as if I hadn't even opened it, w/o even an error message.
I'm not sure if this is related at all, but I've also noticed that 9 times out of 10, when I save a file that has wavs in it, and close Orion, it gives me the "send/dont send error report" prompt and then the next time I open Orion, it says it didn't shut down properly and asks me if I want to start it in safe mode.
I'm confused because there was no event that seemed to trigger this. It just started crashing Orion out of nowhere when it was fine for the past few days. Is there at least any way for me to get my midi info from that file? I even tried installing Orion on another computer and opening just the file (w/o any link to the wavs) and had the same problem.
I have a Sony VAIO with the following specs:

Orion crashes upon opening song (with audio wav files)what version of Orion?
did you have autosave on? try loading one of those versions of the song if you did Windows 11 Home - 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-12400 2.50 GHz -32GB RAM
250GB SSD - 1TB HDD | M-Audio Oxygen 25 V
Orion crashes upon opening song (with audio wav files)also try renaming your vst folder to something else,
then load the song, and if it works, make the backup, and then try to find plugin thats cosing the trouble. (if the case is the vst plugin) Last edited by dveble on Thu Feb 25, 2010 7:55 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Orion crashes upon opening song (with audio wav files)Thanks for the quick responses. I have Orion Platinum version 3.06. (I bought it in 2002).
Orion crashes upon opening song (with audio wav files)you might want to update that then
Windows 11 Home - 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-12400 2.50 GHz -32GB RAM

Orion crashes upon opening song (with audio wav files)I just downloaded the new Orion Demo and tried opening the same file, and it does the same thing, except that it actually gives me an explanation:
Buffer overrun detected! Program: C:Program FilesOrionOrion.exe A buffer overrun has been detected which has corrupted the program's internal state. The program cannot safely continue execution and must now be terminated. With just the option of clicking Okay. Can anyone tell me if there's a way around this or what I should do (in general and as far as this particular song file is concerned)? Thanks
Orion crashes upon opening song (with audio wav files)Have you used any 3rd party plugins, like any other VSTs that aren't Orion's native instruments and effects? You migth want to try renaming your VSTplugins folder to some other name, like add some character at the end, and try reopening it, but that's if you've used VSTs.

Orion crashes upon opening song (with audio wav files)Look here :
http://forum.synapse-audio.com/view ... hp?id=7635 Maybe it's not the issue, but anyway there's no fix yet.
Orion crashes upon opening song (with audio wav files)that i most probably because your wav file is too big to fit into one contiguous blocks of memory. For example if you wav file is 100mb, then orion needs 100mb memory in one large stretch. it doesnt like to work with fragmented blocks similar to this like 50mb(free)->10mb(used by some other app)->50mb(free). so althought you have 100mb, it wont load it because it needs one contiguous blocks of free memory. Possible solutions to try 1. if the file is 96khz 24bit, make it 44khz/16bit 2. still problem? then restart computer and first thing you do is load orion with your sfs. usually when you reboot pc, your memory blocks are usually not fragmented 3. still problem? then remove start up programs and free memory, reboot and try again.
Orion crashes upon opening song (with audio wav files)You may aldready know this omatthaios, but upgrading Orion to the latest version costs only $49. Might be something to consider whether or not you solve the current issue.
