Hi,
I was thinking about buying Hydra, so I installed the demo before in order to test it. I am on a Mac and so I installed it with the package installer and everything seemed to be fine.
But Cubase 5.5 does not recognize it, while checking for the VSTs at the beginning, it tells me that Rosetta needs to be installed in order to use the VST-bridge and instantly crashes. I am running 32-Bit Cubase (guess on OSX there is no other version) and as far as I know, the VST-bridge is for using 32-Bit Plugins within a 64-Bit host - so there should be no need for the VST-Bridge running Hydra...
I checked for Hydra within the VST directory, and it is located there, such as every other VST I use. Ableton Live also had some problems finding it first, but now after reinstalling it somehow did work. I was testing with Renoise, too, it doesn't find the plugin at all.
I don't want to use the AU version, since I run Cubase as my main host. I think there are some serious problems with the recognition of the VST-Plugin on Mac OS.
Here is my system config:
Apple Macbook Pro 15" Unibody 2,4GHz C2D, 4GB RAM. OSX 10.6.4.
Cubase 5.5
Ableton Live 8.1.3
Renoise 2.5.0

Hydra not recognized by Cubase on OSXOkay, this is wierd...
No Hydra in the plugin list. However, if you insert Poly-850, you get... *TA-DA*, a perfectly working Hydra! Rich/Mark: Is it possible Hydra and Poly-850 are sharing a VSTUID? [EDIT - IGNORE - seems Hydra has somehow got Poly-850's name in Cubase Plugin Properties?] Last edited by fandango on Thu Jun 24, 2010 7:41 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Hydra not recognized by Cubase on OSXI did not try the Poly-850 thing. However, hydra did not show up in my VST-list either. Neither in Cubase, nor in Renoise.
Hydra not recognized by Cubase on OSXHmm, actually, I've never installed Poly-850 on OSX... so no idea where Cubase is pulling that out from. =

Hydra not recognized by Cubase on OSXhaha, even weirder...
Hydra not recognized by Cubase on OSXIn Cubase's Plugin Manager, it list Hydra as
Name: Poly-850 Vendor: Synapse Audio File: Hydra.vst Methinks there's maybe a cut & paste error in the VST code somewhere? :] Last edited by fandango on Thu Jun 24, 2010 7:48 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Hydra not recognized by Cubase on OSXOn my System, cubase never passes VST validation when Hydra is installed. There's always Rosetta install coming up (VST-bridge demands it). I don't want to install it, since all my apps are Intel. I think I will keep my hands off this plugin. The good as it sounds, it makes my system go nuts.
