Hi everyone,
Long time Orion user I used to have a different account here, but I lost the login details
I digress...
It seems to me that Orion is 'Maxing Out' on the VST instruments/effects I can add.
I have 7 VST instruments open (ARP2600 V2, Superior Drummer, Absynth 5, Bass-Station,Nanotron) 1 Audio track, and 4 drum racks. After this point, if I try to add another VST (any VST) Orion reports that the plugin is buggy and/or has no dispacher, and it gave another error that I can't recall. The plugins work fine in all other scenarios.
I'm running Win7 Ult x64
Core2Quad@2.5ghz
8gb 800mhz ram
Orion 7.62 x32
Sadly, I can't help thinking that if I were on a mac I wouldn't be getting such errors.
(and Orion is the only reason I'm still in Windoze)
anyway, just thought I'd post to see if anyone had any insight into this issue. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

VST Troubles in Orion 7.62 x32i think you might be running out of RAM. Can you open up the task manager and tell us how much ram orion32.exe is using.
try to delete the audio track and check if VSTs load
VST Troubles in Orion 7.62 x321,472,428k, but system reports there is still 51% available. (i also have some other things open at the moment, but I have tried previously after a clean reboot)
The issue seems to have created a different result. Orion crashed and created an empty minidump file (0k) I deleted the audio track also, with the same 'buggy' message result. I forgot to mention that I am running Kontakt 8 Out inside this session as well.
VST Troubles in Orion 7.62 x32From your info it is indeed a memory issue.
1,472,428k ~ 1.4gb and this is causing orion32 to crash. You may have 51% free mem available, but orion32 is a 32bit process and i have observed that it will become unstable after the sfs file size becomes more than 1.3gb. This is due to the limitation of 1. 32bit addressing AND 2. orion32 memory management If your plugins are avaliable in the x64 version then you will not face this memory limit issue and should move over to orion64. unfortunately it is easier said than done as in my case that is not an option too. So your only solution lies in finding out which vst is eating up ram and so the needful(hint hint) Things that will generally eat ram on orion32 1. large audio files or audio files in hi quality (32/24bit 96khz) 2. VST's that load samples eg, konkat, kore or sampled VST instruments 3. large number of VST synths and VST effects. hope this helps Last edited by suneel on Sat Jul 03, 2010 4:50 pm, edited 1 time in total.
VST Troubles in Orion 7.62 x32Suneel is right, that's the most probable cause of your crashes.
Nanotron is too simple to eat up any RAM at all, APR is a VA if I remember, not sure about BassStation (by the looks of it, I think it's a VA too). I'd suspect Superior Drummer (it's sample based, 4GB hard drive requirement, so for sure it has high quality samples), and maybe even Absynth (for its sample import capabilities). Try removing Drummer and see if memory usage decreases. By all estimations, it should reduce the usage drastically, and allow you to put more instruments. SoundCloud ::: Facebook

Can you remember your old username? If so, let me know and I'll see what I can do for you.
VST Troubles in Orion 7.62 x32no, I tried to remember it, but my old username is lost within my mind somewhere ..
thanks for the information guys. That's the problem with Orion x64 that I had... if it had the ability to load x32 and x64 VSTs then I would have gladly moved over. Sadly, (as you all surely know) some of the VSTs out there aren't available in x64. I don't even have it installed right now. But yeah, Superior Drummer and Kontakt (Persian Santur Program) are what is most likely eating up the memory. I'll have to make 2 separate sessions, 1 for drums and 1 for music.
VST Troubles in Orion 7.62 x32@mark=> how about the email? if your having only a few synths, you can use a 3rd part bitbridge
