The title says it all but wow, I was really loving this synth until a little while ago when I picked up on this flaw... I am using Dune in ProTools ("wrapped" to RTAS operation via FXPANSIONS VSTWRAPPER)... I programmed a moog-like synth bass patch & in the modulation matrix I set the modulation wheel up as a "source"... The "amount" is +4, the "destination" is LFO 1 *Semi... I basically set it up so that when I push the mod wheel up it will add a "vibrato" to the signal... For some odd reason, i'm noticing that everytime I hold a note, push the modulation wheel up then move it back down, I get a LOUD audible "pop" halfway down... It does this in realtime and if you record/playback midi it does the same thing. Very annoying & this all but renders the program useless.
I adjusted my buffer settings, & tried a number of different things as a possible fix but the problem has continued. I even checked the midi event list & filtered out the notes/modulation controller just to see if maybe something else was being transmitted that was causing the problem, but I saw nothing. I tried to attach the patch in question (to this message) in hopes that maybe someone else can re-create what i'm experiencing, but the system advised me "The extension tfx is not allowed"... It would be a shame for me to have to give up on this great sounding virtual synth all because of a problem like this. Hope someone can help. My system specs are below. Thanks!!!! -BMAN

Re: Loud "POPPING" noise when moving modulation wheel in DUNDon't give up on Dune ! I'm sure Rich will be along shortly and help with the problem. I can't do you much good as I don't use Pro Tools and am still on Win XP 32 bit. Hang in there Rich will get you sorted.......
Re: Loud "POPPING" noise when moving modulation wheel in DUN
i doubt this is the problem but...you dont want to use semi for vibrato, use fine, its much more subtle, semi is too big a step for that kind of thing, and its technically incorrect it wouldnt suprise me if the wrapper was the problem, but try using fine instead and see how it goes. Re: Loud "POPPING" noise when moving modulation wheel in DUNWould you share that specific preset? To find out if it's exclusively Dune related and can be reproduced in other host too, or it's just something ProTools/wrapper related.
It may be just an abused setting in that preset. The synth allows many possibilities especially through its MM, but for sure some of these possibilities can be incorrectly used and can result harsh, weird, unpleasant or bug-like sounds. Check the factory presets regarding modulations, many have parameter movements assigned to MW. Are the factory presets working fine?
Re: Loud "POPPING" noise when moving modulation wheel in DUNCan you send me the patch?
I can't reproduce the problem by your description, and have never heard of it before. As Krim and Lance said, it might be wrapper-related. Admin - Synapse Audio Software

Re: Loud "POPPING" noise when moving modulation wheel in DUN
WOW Thanks so much to everyone for the replies! Looks like this is a VERY active sight & thats a good thing Richard, please check your inbox when you get a moment. I'm gonna check out a few more things in the patch to see if I can figure out whats causing this problem. If I come across anything i'll post an update ASAP. Otherwise, let me know if I did something wrong. Really crossing my fingers because aside from this 1 issue i'm TOTALLY sold on this thing I love the fact that the envelopes don't seem to "retrigger" in mono/legato mode like so many other software synths seem to do (all of whom will remain nameless lol)... Thats 1 of the greatest traits of the minimoog sound & I just can't understand how so many companies overlooked it &/or wrote it off! -B

Sure man, pm me your email & i'll forward it to you! -B
Re: Loud "POPPING" noise when moving modulation wheel in DUNFIXED IT!!!!!!!!! I knew I just might be overlooking something... On this patch, the modulation wheel was somehow linked to control the "type" knob for "EQ1" (which I initially didn't see because i'm new to the program & didn't even know about that section hiding under the keyboard )... I saw the knob moving after I took EVERYTHING out of the matrix except for the modulation wheel... I moved the knob on the GUI with my mouse and BINGO... The KNOB made a loud pop when I changed the EQ type... I right-clicked, selected "MIDI FORGET", problem resolved. Thanks so much to everyone who replied to this post! Makes me feel special. I love this synth & I think i'm gonna be a customer for a long time to come, especially observing how quick the response was to my issue. You guys are great! If I come across anything else, its nice to know that like-minded friendly folks are out there willing to help. Thanks again all & enjoy the weekend!!!

Re: (RESOLVED)Loud "POPPING" noise when moving mod wheel inWell I didn't do anything to help but I'm glad you found the cause and it wasn't something messy like the Wrapper.......Welcome to the Synapse family........
