Anyone know how to get audio services running again on Vista32? The Windows Audio dependency is giving a 1608 error and the Windows Audio Endpoint Builder dependency is giving a 0x80070005 "Access is denied" error. I've tried restarting the services, but they won't. I just get a loud beep from the internal PC speaker.
No other problems with the computer afaics and not sure how this has come about, since I've done nothing out of the ordinary. I've done all the normal malware/virus checks and nothing there (as always).
No point having a laptop if I can't do any music with it
Maybe I'll just go ahead and install Windows 8 rather than trying to fix it. I was going to upgrade soon anyway.

Re: Windows Audio Services has stopped - please help!Sorry I can't help as I've never used Vista but here's hoping you find a quick and easy fix.........
Re: Windows Audio Services has stopped - please help!Hey Mark, sorry to hear that. Here's something you can try:
Reset Services Type "services.msc" in Start search box, and then find the following services in the list: - Multimedia Class Scheduler - Plug and Play - Windows Audio - Windows Audio Endpoint Builder For each of those you need to right click them, go to Properties and then set their startup type to Automatic. Reboot computer to check if they have started normally. If they haven't, proceed. Re-install drivers Type in Start search "devmgmt.msc"; this will bring up the Device Manager up. Download fresh drivers for your audio, and then under "Sound, Video and Game controllers" find your audio device (like Realtek HD or whatever your laptop has), right click it and select Uninstall. Then just install the audio driver you've downloaded. If Windows prompts you to search for drivers and install automatically, just cancel that and proceed with driver installation. Reboot if required. SoundCloud ::: Facebook
Re: Windows Audio Services has stopped - please help!I remember getting a few problems with Vista so I instantly change my OS to Windows 7. It is not actually a fix, but that's what I did.
Re: Windows Audio Services has stopped - please help!
Hi Thats a bummer, did this happen after a windows update were you have to shutdown the system, if so try to restore prior to that update.ps Vista is crap dude, had more crashes loss of data with that thing than on 7 or XP.
Re: Windows Audio Services has stopped - please help!
Thanks for the reply. I've tried both of those without luck
Re: Windows Audio Services has stopped - please help!
What sort of problems did you get? This is the first real problem I've had with Vista and I've been using it for over 4 years!
Re: Windows Audio Services has stopped - please help!
It looks like it was directly after an update. Rolling back didn't fix it strangely. Maybe it's some cunning plan by Microsoft to get me to upgrade to Windows 8 As I said above, though, I've not had any major problems with Vista until now
Re: Windows Audio Services has stopped - please help! Are you sure it's a software problem? Maybe the hardware associated with the driver is misbehaving, causing the driver to crash and the service to fall over?

Re: Windows Audio Services has stopped - please help! That is a possibility of course. Device manager says everything is working ok though. I can check with some USB audio interfaces though. Thanks for the idea.
Re: Windows Audio Services has stopped - please help!Fixed this by installing Windows 8. Thanks for all the suggestions btw
