Re: Elektro AktivityI like the basic ideas behind this track (melody, bass movement etc.). But to be the honest: The track itself is missing. After 10 seconds the listener has heard all of your ideas and there is pretty much nothing happening, just the activation/deactivation of the 5 patterns. No tension, no variety.
Re: Elektro AktivityI have to agree whith what knechtoderwas is saying. I can already see from the track layout, that it has no variation. It's just one big block. Go to soundcloud.com and have a look and listen to other tracks from artists (e.g. HOSH)
https://soundcloud.com/hosh/h-o-s-h-fireman This is just a snippet but you can see already that the track has a clear build up, ups and downs and variations. Anothter thing that I can hear is that your track is missing clarity, it's not bright. It sounds like you cut off all the high bits. It's like in a tube. Do an A/B comparison with the HOSH track and you will immediately hear what I mean. : )
Re: Elektro Aktivitya few constructive ideas:
your bassline (mid-bass notes/pattern) is very similar to Underworld : King of Snake... maybe take a listen to that to see what else could be done with your track variation wise. a nice vocal sample chopped up (possibly HP FILTERED with nice reverb and delay) and sprinkled throughout could be nice another, even bigger lead synth could be used in some spots a deeper breakdown would be welcomed somewhere - where you maybe drop out your drums, or throw in a different pattern, then build back up into your main beat any variations would be a good start as the others have already said - there is not much happening here to keep the listener interested once you've established your main "groove" idea... some tweaking and you could make this much better! if you want to get this more "current" sounding, you could head over to BEATPORT and listen to some recent tracks that are making the top of their charts for ideas... good luck, mate! Re: Elektro AktivityAgreed with above; good overall concepts and decent execution, but it holds nothing back from the get-go, which gives it a sort of "DVD menu loop" gravity that just gets tuned out after the first go-round. Try working on builds and using sweeps/fades on volumes or cutoffs of key instruments to give them more impact; more incentive for the listener to follow. (At current stage, it sounds a little like a Doctor Who chase scene soundtrack )
Apologies if this seems harsh - I do like the ideas behind it, I'd just enjoy seeing them polished. Weapons-Grade Awesome: www.jacobtalkington.com
