Heyas folks.
Before I get into the self promo, I just want to say that I read the forum regularly and enjoy hearing about the new styles, grooves and rhythms that peeps are putting down with Orion (and Dune). Bones with a cracker edge on the Zombies, Subset with dreamy dub vibes, it all feels good when u listen to the tunes that peeps have made with the same tools that you feel so passionately about. Thanks again to Richard et al. for making a tool that we feel so comfortable with.

The masters are in and should be available on itunes within the next few weeks.
The album is available right now on Soundcloud and Bandcamp.

More track notes to follow soon. I think the Bandcamp versions sound better somehow.

Hi Folks, after some mixups with mastered versions during the end of a heavy Mercury retrograde, the album is now out proper. Note to self, expect delays if you attempt release an album with Mercury going backwards. Please share it with your networks if you enjoy what I have made.

Out of nine tracks, six used Orion only
Orion was used in combination with Ableton on 2 tracks.
And one track used Ableton only.

Opening with The Fight is Over (All is Forgiven) which is reminiscent of Aphex Twin's "Selected Ambient Works Volume 2", Tourists from a Happy Planet sees Free the Radical embark on a groove laden offering, that still encapsulates the galactic sounds of his previous work. Heavily influenced by FTR's experiences of witnessing the 2016 Total Solar Eclipse in Indonesia. Offering a combination of laconic dreamy sounds and uptempo beats, TFAHP builds cinematic soundscapes, invoking imagery of wide open landscapes and deep night skies.

Track 01: The Fight is Over ~ All is Forgiven

The very moments of viewing the totality of an eclipse, do not add up to the 'whole' of the experience. The months leading in and out of a viewing are tumultuous and of varying intensity, yet somehow you are connected to the universe and its happenings in a more direct way. The Fight is Over is not so much about a fight with the eclipse as such, but a reflection on what the period of the eclipse has caused me to yield.

Gili Gili was made during the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse following the Total Solar Eclipse in March 2016. By then I was hanging out in the very groovy Gili Islands in Indonesia.

Track 03: Crab Sandwich / Tanjung Karang (Salt and Pepper)

After going to the Total Solar Eclipse in Sulawesi Indonesia, I went to this beautiful small beach side village. After snorkelling for a few days I got inspired to make this track, attempting to capture the movement of fish on the reef and the sounds of teeming underwater life.
It smells like fresh fish.

After two weeks on the lovely Kangaroo Island (in South Australia), I returned with this glitch step track that embodies the nothingness of the island combined with an upbeat, not quite trip hop sensibility.

Track 05: Splat

The title Splat, comes from the old school apple macintosh world, like a control alt delete in the pc world. After a splat there are those moments where the apple ROM loads, like BIOS loading on a pc. Depending on the reliability of your vintage mac, the machine may boot, or not. This track is inspired by those indeterminable moments between a smiley happy mac and an undoubtable question mark.

Another day long session with Sculpt, has led to some fruitful results. A good steady track that keeps moving like a good dj mix. Not bad for a single session. created with FTR using the program Orion under midi sync, and Sculpt pumping it in Ableton.

As I was packing up my home of twelve years, Sculpt came over with his portable field recorder to sample my old handheld video game collection whilst I was playing them, hence the title Games. The track kind of merges old school Tron sounds with modern synthesizer grooves.
