Orion demo stuff. Exploring further the Guitar library guitars of Orion, just for fun.
This is slow easy funky jazzy sample snippet: Wah-wah fuzz solo guitar is Guitar library steel guitar with the Tube distortion effect.
The wah kind effect is made with the filter cutoff of Sampler.
The band is: DrumRack (Grunge Kit), Electric Picked Bass (sampler), Toxic 2, Wasp (solo organ), Steel solo guitar (sampler).
Just an experiment. How does this sample sound to you, I mean the production? Feedback is welcome.

OP Guitar Library rulesHey ! Baroquerion nice guitar sound !! Really ! Just try to put a bit of vibrato effect in it and you'll get one of the Oldfield 's guitar sound !
OP Guitar Library rulesWhats about a tiny swing on the beat/ bassline ?
It sounds very good. clear mix, clear master... can you insert glide on the bass line ? congrats Orion 8, Live 8Le, Cubase 4 LE, Cantana, APC40, UC16, Fostex PM1MKII, Q9550, 4G0, 1,5T, 22"+15"

Thanks tubular tos, I'm working with that The vibrato used by Mike is a very unique and very recognizable, I like that.
Hey thanks Eklectro! That's a real challenge I don't use any midi recording or such, I usually just input the notes with the mouse, by this way it really takes work to get things swing. But I'm making progress with that. Multi layered drums of Orion do offer a really good facility to get things sound human in a swinging way. I really like the Grunge Kit. It's a same thing with multilayered slap bass.
Thanks epilogue! I really would like to hear your opinion about the longer version, which I've uploaded now. I've tried to achieve a good sound and mix for the traditional band combo. Drums, bass, keyboards, solo guitar. Orion is ideal for electronic stuff but it suits perfectly for making this kind of traditional combo stuff too. Orion has all you need: excellent drum kits, good bass, wide variety of keyboards and cool guitars. Sampler instruments collection is also very good. I wish there could be some brass and sax collections, but maybe that dream will come true in somewhere in the future . So here is the longer version,a kinda band jam. The form is not necessarily the final one, but this is the first jam Let me know what you think about the mix. http://www.mikseri.net/artists/?id=51949&displ_lang=en --> Kinda Funky (demo) (MP3) Last edited by baroquerion on Sat May 30, 2009 10:03 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Yeah ! But his famous left hand vibrato is natural ! http://vst-plugins.homemusician.net/eff ... rator.html you can try this one ... don't worry it's not a ..." sex-toy" it's just an effect sweep time at 125 and range at 5 i use it sometimes , to cheat a little , on my guits patterns , but the best should be to launch it at the end of the patterns or on the ending's note with an automation . Edit : The bridge solo is very realistic and at the end too ! I would like to get your velocity on my real guit ! Last edited by Philippe Tavares on Wed May 20, 2009 8:34 am, edited 1 time in total.

Thanks for a hint Tubular! Though my mission still is to make everything with Orion I can make a quite good vibrato with the LFO 1 - Pitch.- Rate - Amt- Delay thing of the Sampler. It's quite hard to imitate the vibrato of the solo guitar without making it sound keyboard modulation wheel kind of vibrato. To get the right result you have to use pattern automation with the LFO 1 Amt-Rate thing. Like you described above, it's like doing musical surgery in a way.. This new longer version of the song does not have any vibratos in the solo yet. But, what i would like to ask (everybody there ) is following: does this sound decent to you, I mean the sound EQ, balance etc. Is the hihat too high? I've used VoxengoSPAN as a spectrum analyzer to check the sound balance but naturally the final decisions should be done by ear always. How does this look in your analyzer? I'm convinced that with the tools of Orion you can get a good mixing result concerning the final premaster mix in the demo song. What do you think about this long version mix? I really would like to hear your opinion. http://www.mikseri.net/artists/?id=51949&displ_lang=en --> Kinda Funky (demo) (MP3) Last edited by baroquerion on Sun May 31, 2009 1:31 am, edited 1 time in total.
OP Guitar Library rulesOh yes sorry i forgot you want just to use Orion stuff ! I think the bass sound is very realistic and as always your drums are fantastic ... maybe you could try to put some pan effect on the crashes ! But anyway this is great !
OP Guitar Library rulescool. the middle part reminds me a bit of old Genesis songs.

Thanks Tubular!
I tried that, but changing the panning of the crash changed the whole stereo image in a way to unbalanced direction. You know sometimes when you change the particular thing in the mix, it causes a need to change many other things after that. It's strange thing... Anyway there is a little delay in the crash to make it wider.
Thanks DaZoid! I've always liked the progressive rock music (the bands in the late sixties and early seventies). Orion is a great tool for making this kind of traditional stuff too.
OP Guitar Library rulesOh man, soon as Dazoid said Genesis I have to forwarn you all... There's a Toronto rapper/hip hopper/whatever who's got a song and video up on MuchMusic. He's souped up and is rapping over Genesis 'No Reply At All'.
"Toronto The Good".... My ass! (wait a minute, I'm in Toronto! :superlol: )
