bass pluginsay, need help with bass. any one know of a generator capable of playing a regular bass and not those acidy or distorted basses like wasp xt does? i would go for plucked string, but that bass sounds like too much tension. i was hoping for some bass like the ones in the drum rack, only difference being that, the bass can actually change notes and not remain monotonous.
bass pluginI still like Steinbergs VB-1 for a 'natural bass', and there's free versions still kicking around at KVR I think? And there's some good .SF2's out there of 'electric basses' as well. Try www.sf2midi.com and see what you can dig up.
bass pluginai ai, thanks bro... ill check it out right away and tell you.

Wasp can make pretty deep bass, if you tune it right, and not just monkey around with presets
I didn't know DrumRack had bass sounds in it, unless you used some sample of your own. It came with drum sets, and that's what I'm using it for. Oh, and DrumRack can change notes, btw. Just set it's midi from Mapped to Multi (just above the first rack in the right corner) Last edited by HYPNAGOGIA on Sat Feb 14, 2009 5:00 am, edited 1 time in total.

bass pluginHave a look at DSK BassZ. There's a few "realistic" basses in there. Also, EVM bassline can do this with a little tweaking.

bass pluginThere's two excellent multisampled basses in the Sampler, "Electric Bass" menu, with almost 200 individual samples and 8 layers in each.
I might add more laters, and wrap it into an Electric Bass pack similar to the Guitar Pack. @DS free bass SF2s are going to sound like general MIDI crap, might as well compose on a SoundBlaster right away and skip the audio part :smile2: Admin - Synapse Audio Software

bass pluginHave a look at Orion's Plucked String for some physically modelled bass sounds.
bass pluginRich - not all SF2's are bad out there. A lot - yes, but there's a few almost as good as yours. BTW - Nice demo!
That's the other thing Taxi is velocity switching. Rich's basses offers some neat slides and such at super high and low velocities. Just plotting in notes on the grid are going to be pretty static. But if you adjust certain notes to be low or high VEL, exciting things start happening.
bass pluginOrion's Picked Electric Bass is great. Very inspiring to me, one of my favourites.
If you have the resources, absolutely do download the free Kore Player from Native Instruments. It's a hefty download and needs registration but it's free and comes with fantastic sounds. Among them a very good velocity sensitive e-bass simulation and a f-a-n-t-a-s-t-i-c multilayer sampled upright bass.
