Hi!
I'm looking for a good (but still not too expensive) plugin for creating orchestral sounds e.g. brass section with trumpets, horns and orchestral sounds with violas and other string instruments. I guess I will have to find one tool for each; brass and strings. Anything to recommend?

Good orchestra VSti?The Personal Orchestra looks interesting. And for 139 EUR, it's pretty cheap. Might also be mid quality if you consider that the Vienna Symphonic Orchestra software is around 10.000 EUR.
Good orchestra VSti?GPO is a quite powerful package in the right hands:

Good orchestra VSti?EASTWEST Symphonic Orchestra Silver Complete
- Get that big "Hollywood Sound" film/tv/games directors and producers seek "out of the box", no other orchestral collection comes close or is as easy to use! - $195.00 http://www.soundsonline.com/East-West-Q ... -c-61.html Demos: http://www.soundsonline.com/product.php ... tid=EW-177 ---> EWQLSO Silver -------------------------- I've done couple of demos for Eastwest, I've been satisfied, VST works fine with Orion: http://www.mikseri.net/artists/?id=40950&displ_lang=en The first two of them made with Eastwest. The rest made with various VSTis. BTW Eastwest includes very good Steinway piano, among others. Last edited by baroquerion on Mon Mar 02, 2009 12:47 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Good orchestra VSti?Ok, I think I have got some good suggestions now. I will check them out.
Thanks a lot!!
Good orchestra VSti?And isn't there some HUGE sample set called Vienna Orchestra, or like that? In the thousands of dollar range?
Baroquerion - how do you find doing portamentos and legatos and trills and all with these samples? The crescendos in your New Dawn at the intro sounded pretty good. But must admit some elements were still sounding 'GM-ish' to me. That's the thing about orchestral samples - tonally they can sound great, But unless the song matches their tremolo's and vibrato's and such - they can sound out of place. Your demo sounds like they could be added in at points, but then that becomes a chore too to get them 'just right'. For me, I'm sticking with these guys,,, http://www.papelmedia.eu/english/download2.htm

Even its most limited cut-down edition is near to $4-500. I'd choose a full package from the competitors instead, I hate cut-down versions. EWQL Silver is only limited by bit depth mostly, so it's acceptable, and GPO also a fullest package from Garritan.
Good orchestra VSti?So I am right? 'Vienna Orchestra' would be the name? I often wondered if all that would be 'playable', or would one be searching for hours to find 'String Octave Jump A, B, C, etc.' to acheive the realism?
For that kinda money, it should be there in one way or another.
Good orchestra VSti?Yo are right.
For example this is a kind of full package from VSL: http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/product/3 ... paign=base
