I found some mellotron samples that don't sound half-bad. Thought someone might be interested:

mellotron samplesThanks for that.
The guy that posted the samples on the link I gave, is one of the guys posting on that KVR topic. Well, much of that topic is people mentioning the romplers that have come out lately. Like the G-Force stuff, and Sampletron. I'm not sure yet that I want to go that route. Have you tried either of the G-Force Tron VSTi's Krim?
mellotron samplesno, but im told by ppl who use them the original M-Tron is very good..its not really my kinda thing.

mellotron samplesThe Tapeworm VST freebie is actually one of my faves. And the samples intended for the EX5 synth by Tim Ande I think are and still THE BEST.
But score yourself Tapeworm if you haven't already Icaro, it's pretty darn close to the real thing IMHO

Ok, I found the tapeworm VST, but a search for Tim Ande is only giving me vague references to him in forums. Including one in which someone asks who he is, and the response is that he is a guy that you (Steven West) give a lot of credit to for the sounds of some song, or something to that effect. Not that I mind doing searches on my own, but I've seen some people get riddiculed recently for not providing links with their posts. :p Do you have a link for those Tim Ande samples then????
mellotron samplesI seem to have been the first person ever donating to tweakbench, who made tapeworm, he he... I really like the M-tron though, had it since ages. the m-tron pro adds nearly no new sounds (I had all extra banks before), but you get the possibility to layer 2 mellotron types together, and a kind of easy way to change things like with the Orion sampler. If you use mellotron sounds often and would not be happy with the tapeworm alone, you can't go wrong with the M-tron pro.
There was another freebie, Mellosound by Batsounds. KVR states it was no longer available, but you can still get it HERE. It has less sounds than the tapeworm, but maybe you like some
mellotron samplesYou did tapeWorm Klemperer? Great job man! I do enjoy the sound of the Mellotron, but some people are serious die hards to this day for it's authenticity and perfect recreation. I think it was Radiohead that actually got and used a real one on OK Computer - synths and samplers just wouldn't do it for them.
Icaro - sorry my man. You'll have to go to EX5 Tech here http://www.ex5tech.com/ex5ubb_cgi/ultim ... category=1 and register. After that, go to the EXclusive Downloads page, and it should be there. Lot's of other great analog and different .WAV's you can download as well.
