back from India, by the way!How could India possibly be anything but completely soul destroying?

It was very inspiring. Why soul destroying? Facing reality (here: a poverty-stricken country) is something many people on this planet should do to understand how lucky they are and stop complaining about tiny meaningless things. Maybe the only way to get people to reassess their behaviour and way of thinking. Last edited by DaZoid on Sat Mar 28, 2009 8:38 am, edited 1 time in total.

back from India, by the way!overpopulation of unimaginative people is the problem in my country

So you were inspired by other people's misery? Not that they are miserable in themselves, but hundreds of millions live in miserable circumstances with little or no prospect of a decent life, as we would define it - no house to live in, no running water, no electricity. Even people with a proper house often lack basic things like glass in their windows. Dell G7 (Hexa-Core i7)|Cubase Pro 10||Analog Keys|Ultranova|MicroMonsta|Uno|Skulpt|Craft Synth 2.0|

Who said that? I was inspired by the country, the landside, the food, nature and by the people. But not by their miserable situation. We spoke with a lot of people about their situation. My fiancée went on a bikeride through the country 2 years ago. It was a charity project for a kids project. She also teaches English and was able to give them some basic knowlege about that language. It's not much, but when you see the greatfulness of the people, you know it's worth doing it.
back from India, by the way!You said it was very inspiring, which to me says that you discount the overwhelmingly awful situation of the vast majority [one-third of India's 1.1 billion live on less than 50c a day]. Sure, there is good to be found but for every positive thing I have seen or learned in India, there are a dozen things to counter it. One of those is how easily the Indian middle class are able to ignore the squalor around them and believe that things are OK. They have a reasonable sense of social obligation in the main but, at the same time, they are more than happy to exploit those less fortunate whenever it suits them.

back from India, by the way! There is also no hardcore techno scene as I know.
Well this permanent squalor is horrible, and as you said, the way how people ignore it also. Btw, we do same here. We know that people are starving (tv news...) but these news are boring news. Humans have also the ability of getting used of anything. That is dangerous... Orion 8, Live 8Le, Cubase 4 LE, Cantana, APC40, UC16, Fostex PM1MKII, Q9550, 4G0, 1,5T, 22"+15"

back from India, by the way!Its more complex than that. Indian culture by nature is not society oriented, its more family oriented. families forge their alliances with other families having similar regional/caste profile. thus what you have is isolated blobs of social groups who stick together bonded by the identity of region/cast. Regionalism exists because each state in india have their own language. Castism exists right from aryan times. It is a country with diverse languages and cultures, very heterogeneous. I belive the side effect due to this will be a lack social identity. Ask your self, in your country do you have 36 different languages?? I mean you dont have to get out on the street and help a beggar or something to have a social identity. Example: cities are not planned, that means there is no standard naming notation for streets. Infrastructure planning is also not standard. As a result there is no designated parking zones either. you basically can park wherever the car can fit into. This always causes inconvenience and traffic jams. People wonder why there is a jam, but will happily park in the wrong spot!! Also traffic rules are not obeyed, because the enforcement is weak. The enforcement is weak because of political ideology. And ideology that tries to appease regional elements and cast communities. So you see now how complex it is?
