I bought a new synth a few days ago, so of course I had to write something with it. Ok, I don't have 10,000 great patches yet (like epilogue!), but it is a start. You can check out "Mananark", done with Orion and Mark Henning's Anamark VST synth at www.myspace.com/boscotung
Also I posted another older Csound tune, "Dreaming of Spring".
Both songs are microtonal experiments, scale details on the myspace blog.

New SynthReally liking the stuff on your MySpace page, Borion. Keep it up! It's nice to hear new styles getting carved out and built on.
Phreque.com - Weapons-Grade Awesome.
New SynthThanks epilogue, I always enjoy listening to your material. One question occurs to me listening to your stuff; how do you work with so many different sounds in one song? Do you have a lot of instances of synths up, or do you change vst parameters of existing ones? Or do you work with recorded parts mixed in as .wav?
New SynthIt's a mix of both - I've been using a lot more automation to make the most of each part, but there are lots of individual samples making up each bit. Layering sounds can offer up some fantastic sounds, but only if you take the time to line them up. Zooming way in and sliding triggers ever so slightly works like a champ!
As a general rule, I don't use prerendered portions. I much prefer to set it up the hard way the first time and have the option to tweak anything I like Phreque.com - Weapons-Grade Awesome.
New SynthI am not sure I understand what you are referring to with respect to lining up sounds and zooming in to slide triggers. Do you mean that you adjust note start times slightly to account for differences in attack speeds between different sounds?

Yep! Exactly that. Phreque.com - Weapons-Grade Awesome.
New SynthI like "Riucheybad" a lot It has some nice hmmm atmosphere. first those hmm dreamy "lullaby bells" and there more agressive frequency modulated i guess sound.
VST Cafe - subjective selection of free but good vst plugins, presets, tutorials... It's about praising good stuff.
New SynthThank you Greeg, I also find the "atmosphere" of Riucheybad pleasing. As noted previously, the "dozenky" tuning used for that song works perfectly in Orion (because it has 12 notes per octave), so if you or anyone else would like a copy of it in .scl or .tun format I would be glad to supply it.
You might find it interesting that the song was orignally written in 12-TET (standard tuning). I loaded the dozenky scale into the song for an experiment and ended up liking it and developing it further. Taking existing 12-TET compositions and loading 12-note scales like uoop or dozenky into them can give surprising results sometimes; sort of easy-mode microtonal composition. The sounds are 3 x Wavefusion, with custom patches and a fair bit of automation. Very much a pure Orion piece, the basic progressions were created and rendered using the Orion arpegiator.
