Rich/Jouni,
took a screenshot of the CPU usage. Not all cores seem to be loaded with the same amount.

Strange thing also. The Core2Duo showed a CPU usage of 70% (Orion) constantly with max. load. The Quad goes up to 98% and bounces.

QuadCore DisappointmentCheck if you have a CPU hog in your project, e.g. a specific VST instrument that consumes those ressources single-handedly.

Did you enable MPE? Audio Output Settings, Engine Options

Asked this in the first response, but still haven't heard Phreque.com - Weapons-Grade Awesome.
QuadCore Disappointmentcome on guys give him a break

Found the hog. You will not believe but it's WASP. And I found out why. I have a heavy break in the intro of the track where everything lifts up and then crashes, I opened up DEC/SUS/REL on WASP which makes it comsume 45% CPU in SOLO mode. Without it, the song plays around 60% but without cracks. Also tried to overclock the CPU. Pushed it to 2,7 GHz but failed with 3,15. Have to get a bit more into it. Might be VCore or some FSB:DRam ratio issue. @Lance and epilogue Folks, of course MPE is ON! :music:
QuadCore DisappointmentCareful with pushing your core DaZoid. Just after I said I had 18 months of over clocking with no problems in another thread, my system memory started to go wobbly. Got new (improved quality) memory and all is good now. Keeping my mouth shut in future, dont want to upset my DAW.

QuadCore Disappointmentoverclocking your CPU is a waste of time these days...ten years ago yes, but you shouldnt need to now.

QuadCore DisappointmentI have read this whole thread and to be honest not understood a word of it. When my PC stops being able to make the music I want, I'm obviously *#@#ed!

To be honest your probably right Krim. I originally over clocked my system to see what it would do,, it ran so well I forgot all about it,

Then you are assuming that orions multi cpu is not working corect. Clock to clock they are not the same Ghz cpu's. Try to overcloack the quad to the core2duo ghz and there you are 100% (2 times) more cpu power. Emu1212m | Alesis micron | Edirol pcr500 | FOCAL CMS 50 | Senheiser hd 25-1 II | Core i7 etc

Why? What is your final output? If it's CD, then 96kHz processing is a complete and utter waste of time. If it's any other format, then I would suggest it is still a waste of time as almost no-pone will be able to listen to it at that res anyway.
That is precisely why it is ridiculous. It's like working in CMYK colourspace on your RGB monitor and wondering why all the colours print differently. It is effectively a different medium and any conversion process, even downsampling, introduces errors. Lots of bit-depth is a good thing, like lots of colour depth, but changing sample rates is not necessary at all.
Because you know that there is no reason for doing it, which makes you a braindead fucking moron. Grow up and work like a professional, not a spoiled child. Studios advertise all that kind of krap because they are engaged in a competitive business, not because every piece of gear in their studio is absolutely essential to music production. Only an idiot would use an excuse like "many or most of pro producers/studios work with that". use your own brain, if it sounds different at 96kHz, then you should realise that is a problem and avoid it like the plague. QuadCore Disappointmentnope, they needed it for older apps that did not do well with dual cores. or you could just set the processor affinity manually. intel chips didnt not have this problem
