Orion lives on ; P5.... your TOASTIt sucks actually - I loved P5 and would still be using it if it had gone dualcore. They are offering cheap upgrades to Sonar but Sonar is clunky compared to it and there isn't really another app like it (sorry Orion is not really much of a comparison)
Orion lives on ; P5.... your TOASTForget Cakewalk....they put on a mask to hide their real identity...to rip ppl off. They aren't loyal to their customers and too in love with their sonar product which is so full of c*ap. Project5 was one of the best things they created and to make a decision to just stop its development was just idiotic. Maybe from a marketer's point of view it was wise....but they say they listen to their loyal customers? They just needed to make a patch or a new code to allow multicore to take effect. Countless amount of people have asked that for the last few years....yet it was just silence on their part.
This is why I love Synapse Audio Orion. The application is active...the forum is full of life. And best of all, the developer participates with discussions to actually be part of us as a team to make this product grow to its full potential. +1 for Orion
Orion lives on ; P5.... your TOASTI went Cakewalk for awhile back when I was searching for the sequencer that would be right for me.I bought P5 v2 and the best thing I can say about it is
I can pick up Dimension Pro for 99 since I have a license for v2.
Orion lives on ; P5.... your TOASTThe developers actively engaging the users of their software was one of the first things about Orion that sucked me in. I'm glad beyond words that this hasn't changed over what has now been quite a long time.

Orion lives on ; P5.... your TOASTIf Orion had the piano roll of Project5, and a "groove matrix" of sorts, it would be a great application. Orion is good, but still not great for me yet. It took all the way to v8 for Live to get the piano worked out, so maybe there is hope yet.
We'll see soon enough I guess.
Orion lives on ; P5.... your TOAST@ Trusty, I havn't looked at P5 so what was it about the piano roll you liked better than Orions?
Orion lives on ; P5.... your TOASTI'm interested what you liked about P5 too. I always thought the piano roll of Orion and FLS are among the best, as far as I'm concerned. But I know everybody works differently (kb shortcuts, MIDI, mouse etc)

you gotta be kidding me. The piano in Orion is far more superior to the one in P5. You don't need to switch between pencil and arrow all the time. I love the Piano roll in Orion as it is. It reminds me of the one from FL studio which had the best piano roll IMO. As for the groove matrix, I think it would be such a useless feature in Orion. You have 64 patterns per instruments....what more do you want. Richard, if i may request one thing. The drumrack...it would be sick to browse thru my samples in my hard-drive and be able to hear the sample as i click on them..before puttin a pattern down. There is a workaround ofcourse, but this would save time. Also, I know alot of guys here don't want a freeze funtion. I don't need it but it might still be a handy feature 'IF' needed. If there is one function that I really liked in project5....it was the ability to save 'device chains' so that you can create your own sounds with effects and instruments together and save them as a chain to recall on a later project. If Orion could have a 'device chain' function ...it would be quite useful. Oh, one last thing...Richard this is a very personal request lol. If i rewire Reason with cubase...all 64 channels show up from the device interface. On Orion, upto 16 only shows up...but even then....whatever i add in Reason (whether it be effects or instruments)..take up the slots within the 16....so in the end i'm left with only a few useful stuff to use in reason. The reason I'm requesting a better rewire implementation like cubase/reason is because I love the piano roll in orion and the super-fast worklow, sound engine, mixer, etc...too many to mention. Reason's workflow on the other hand isn't my cup of tea...but i would like to use it to create my own sounds and get the best of both worlds. You only have to check the checkbox "Alwways running" under "Audio Output settings" -> "Engine options". Then whenever you browse your samples with the sample open dialog, it will be played automatically - even if you do not put a single note in a pattern. What workarround you mean? Orion 8.6 | DUNE | DUNE 2 | EKS Pro | Hydra | Sylenth1 | Predator | Predator 2 | Blue 2 | Windows 10 Pro | ESI Maya 44 XTE | Oxygen 8 V2 | X-Board 49 | Edirol MA-20D | Sennheiser HD 380 Pro

Orion lives on ; P5.... your TOASTIt only works for the first channel....try hitting run on the transport pannel. And after that....try to load smthng on the second channel...you won't hear anything while you browse without putting down a pattern.

Simple things really. 1. Polyphonic step recording from a midi controller. 2. Easy switching between note resolutions (instead of just changing the number of steps) like measure/whole, half, quarter, 1/8, 1/16, 1/32, 1/64, all the dotted's in between, etc... Again, just little things for crappy piano players to get by on more easily. So yeah, not anyone's fault I can't play for squat, but still, it is nice when piano rolls have these options. AFAIK previewing samples by clicking on a file while browsing only works when playback is stopped. Phreque.com - Weapons-Grade Awesome.
Orion lives on ; P5.... your TOASTI'm just returning to orion after a long hiatus so i may not be speaking correctly.
Things i liked about Piano roll in P5. 1. the fact that you could change the playback speed of the patterns for interesting effects. So a copy of a pattern could play in half the time etc 2. very easy to extend pattern length without going into menus 3. drag and drop into the playlist. in all it is a very elegant compact way of working. that is not to say i dislike Orion's piano roll. my personal opinion is i dislike the A1, B3 way of working always have.
Orion lives on ; P5.... your TOASTif it helps, you can rename patterns, which affects the labels in the playlist, by hovering over the pattern and hitting the N key.
