Just bought one of these little suckers: http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/XSessionPro.html
Basically the cheapest midi mixer I could find, but it's enough for my needs. It's advertised as a "DJ mixer controller", but I'm only using it with Orion for music creation.
Anyone else got one of these? Happy with it?

bought a midi mixer[Nothing]
bought a midi mixerI bought some UC 16 (the cheapest in his time) like 6 years before, but I don't use it so much since I have about 300ms of delay with my integratd soundcard.
It looks good but you don't have button preset on it right ? It could be usefull for instance for changing of channel in the mixer... Orion 8, Live 8Le, Cubase 4 LE, Cantana, APC40, UC16, Fostex PM1MKII, Q9550, 4G0, 1,5T, 22"+15"

bought a midi mixerI don't know what a "preset button" is, but I'm guessing from what you're saying that it would make it possible to create different sets of mappings and then switch between them using that button.
(Perhaps Orion has an option like that? I have also wondered whether it's possible to save a certain mapping since it unlinks upon closing the program. I haven't RTFM on that one yet though, so maybe I'm not allowed to ask.) [Nothing]
bought a midi mixerI don't tthink so, because this is the midi controleur that sends midi values to special midi channel. (0-127)
I don't think that orion can change the midi map assignment... let's waiting for pro to answer Orion 8, Live 8Le, Cubase 4 LE, Cantana, APC40, UC16, Fostex PM1MKII, Q9550, 4G0, 1,5T, 22"+15"

bought a midi mixerIsn't it always Orion that routes (maps) the midi signal?
When you link a hardware knob to a certain virtual knob, and then change the mapping, you're not actually changing anything in the controller, only in how Orion treats that particular signal, what to map it to. Or at least that's what makes sense to me. Last edited by JohnDX on Mon May 18, 2009 7:14 pm, edited 1 time in total.

bought a midi mixerI'm using an M-Audio TriggerFinger for most of my tweaks. Their stuff is all nice and solid.

bought a midi mixerI use a mouse. It's much easier, more flexible and accurate.
