Somehow I don't think Krim's new SH synth would fit into this? I think I've gone as far as I could go on the spectrum away from electro-techno-lofi-dance on this one.
But yes, it's all Orion totally. All sample based, except for the Strum Guitar (save your money axemen, it's a bitch to control!)
But if you like artsy, jazzy, Tom Waits types of things....

Paris At DuskSome nice use of samples here, I particularly enjoyed the Tom Waitsish percussion. Although honestly I don't really like the piano sample; it seems too harshly percussive and lacking in harmonic depth. Maybe a bit more reverb would soften it out.
Over all a very nice composition with an interesting arrangement; the rhythmic and melodic interaction between the piano chords and accordion is quite nice, at times somewhat reminiscent of a latin or Cajun type groove.
Paris At DuskThanks Borion. Yes, I'm not to smitten with the piano either. But it was the best of both worlds - not to lush and sweet, and not too honky-tonk. I think I may go back and put some detuned PSP on it and see how that goes.
And I agree about the cajun kick. My other songs there are almost bordering on Culture Club cajun pop (Midnight And The Ol' Misissippi) Don't ask me why.
Paris At Duskagree to what was said.
Nice composition, Awesome drums Orion 8, Live 8Le, Cubase 4 LE, Cantana, APC40, UC16, Fostex PM1MKII, Q9550, 4G0, 1,5T, 22"+15"

Paris At DuskThanks Eklectro. The funny thing with the drums is it was actually a test of Emu's free Proteus synth. It can't keep a stable beat for the life of it? So I was ready to ditch the patterns, and then Epi said in another thread about transposing with the Pg Up/Down keys and all. So I tested it on the crap Proteus patterns, and all of a sudden - 'Hey, those drums sound COOL now!' And thus with the AAS Strum guitar, which is one heck of a thing to tame in Orion - but it started working with this song too. Throw in a beat up old piano and a diatonic accordian, and voila! (Oh yeah, and a Jaysen Audio Rockabily bass to boot)
The buggers became a blessing.
Paris At DuskIncidentally, I was in Paris two weeks ago and was sitting at the stairs of Sacre Coeur where you have this beautiful view on the city. Your song fits very good to my memories. I suggest, you drink whisky and smoke lots of Gauloises tonight. Tomorrow morning, your voice will be prepared to record a vocal track for the song. You could sing about your first love that you lost in paris long ago...
Paris At DuskThanks AuralTask. Though I drink scotch and smoke Gitanes primarily trying for that Rod Stewart sound. Maybe it's time to tey your recipe and also take some vocal lessons from Tom Waits? The lyrics though would have to be pretty weird....
"Took out my lover with a thirty ought six And the cops interrupted my last bowl of Trix The hinges came off because there wasn't enough flux And the bars now block my view of Paris at dusk. On a downtown Metro.... Something like that? :superlol:
Paris At Dusk~:45 = awesome. Very soundtracky, Dungeon!!
The bandeon sounds like it should fade more into focus from the right speaker, while it goes off on its solo there. Great track! Phreque.com - Weapons-Grade Awesome.
Paris At DuskThanks Epi. The accordian I found just recently when looking at this stuff that made Krim 'bust a gut'. Big honking .SF2, but really nice. So the song just kinda happened soon as I downloaded and played it (with a smoke hangin out of my mouth speaking like Pepe Le Pew no less...) But yes, as rustic and raw as the song sounds, it would need more work if ever to make it to the 'midnight hour'.
