Hi who is using NI Battery vst? i am trying the demo out, seems to be ok, except for note to sample assignment. After a while i figured out you add a +2octave to the one shown in the ui to get the correct key to map to the sample. So if the sample at cell [A1] says C1, just add C1+2 = C3. So it seems now i goto c3 to set the note. any1 else noticed this? and is there any other easy way to set the note for the sample like Drumrack.
also who is using bfd from FXpansion? bloody $400, but looks impressive.

NI BatteryI'm interested in Battery myself. How do you find the drums on it? It seems to me that Battery is based on the drum setup found on the Yamaha EX5 synth - which is by far anything as easy as DrumRack.
But for intense editing and mapping, Battery seems to be the most detailed and anal for production by the look of it? And I hear you about the skewed octave interpretations. Happens on some other VSTs as well, and I'm just used to it by now. But a 2 octave difference with Battery - that's weird?
NI Batteryi have BFD, dont use it tho (i also have the 8bit add on pack)
i dont really use acoustic drums much, and i dont have enought RAM to run it properly anyway its very good for what t is (replacing a real drummer, with regards to the sounds and positioning of studio equipment) Windows 11 Home - 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-12400 2.50 GHz -32GB RAM
250GB SSD - 1TB HDD | M-Audio Oxygen 25 V
NI BatteryBattery is nice with an electronic drumkit if you are ever going or have gone that way.
Cheers
NI Batteryi seem to like it. i am a guy who has never purchased a drum vst in the last 6years with orion. i have lots of other vsts synths, but not a single drum vst. there are like 4-5 presets in the demo and each preset loads different samples. i could immediately make out what i have been missing! i really like it. its all abt the samples and the full version comes with 14gb. yeah, this demo i just downloaded it yesterday.
NI Batteryhow much ram do you need? krim/nix thanks for your inputs
NI Batteryive only got 512MB...you can reduce polyphony to use it, but its a compromise, i think you really need 1gig to get the full benefit of the multi samples they use

NI BatterySo Battery would be more Acoustic oriented, or BFD? I've got more 'electronic drums' than I could shake a stick at now, and am getting so bored with them. But as for acoustic kits, aside from the few multilayered ones Rich put on DR, and the assortment of samples everywhere in cyberspace - I have yet to find a REALLY good acoustic kit. Even with the DR multilayered ones, there seems to be this radical transition of snares and such at velocities? It's a mellow tap from 1-99, then it's this whacking smash from 100-127. Would Battery or this BFD be a more smoother and realistic transition between velocities?
NI Batterywith Battery you can load samples, with BFD, you cant, only the ones they supply
Windows 11 Home - 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-12400 2.50 GHz -32GB RAM

NI Battery@ds: BFD is advertised as acoustic drum synth only.
NI Batterythats cunning can you load konkat2 presets into battery? the reason why i am asking is because of this NDK acoustic drum kit http://www.naturaldrum.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=54&Itemid=64
NI Batteryi dont know, but the presets will just be 'kits' and there respective settings (pan, vol etc etc for each drum sound)
if its a big/well known sample set, you may find someone has already made Battery presets for it, you'll have to have a dig around the net tho Windows 11 Home - 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-12400 2.50 GHz -32GB RAM
250GB SSD - 1TB HDD | M-Audio Oxygen 25 V
NI Batterysounds more like some old midi GM
NI Battery
the reason you can only use their sounds is becuase they are 12 channel samples....so you can adjust the level and position of each mic to mix the sounds how you like..its quite impressive, but you are limited to their kits (which are pretty good, and you can get extra ones) i never use mine, i'd give it away if i thought someone would get some use from it...but its NFR Windows 11 Home - 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-12400 2.50 GHz -32GB RAM
