New Track - Minimalist technoNew track from me:
Slow Upload This track was inspired off the very cool Jeff Mills track "Preview" Pretty simple stuff, and if you aint a fan of repetive music, then you might want to avoid this . Main bassline courtesy of Hydra. Organ is Ravity. The strange evil sounding chord is Screamer, and drums is the 808 kit. The main tune is from z3ta+. Not too much going on, but I think it does the job. Comments welcome. Last edited by Steven_Blair on Sun Jun 14, 2009 11:19 am, edited 1 time in total.
New Track - Minimalist technoYou know how i love repetitive music and maybe yours does the job .... but your link doesn't ! Another one please ?
New Track - Minimalist technoopps, try now
New Track - Minimalist technoHey ! there's something from house music in this one , or am i wrong ? i like house music so i like it ! Also some sounds remind me of something from Pump of the volume ... don't know why
New Track - Minimalist technoExcellent! Now this is 'poly-rythem' I'd say? (made famous with Talking Heads 'Once In A Lifetime') Took me a moment to get how you matched that oil drum to the beat, but very nice! The organ could definately come up a wee bit. (Makes me think of The League Of Gentlemen too - all these 80's references, and poor Steve is no doubt WTF? :superlol: )
Forgive us old farts Steve. But I think this is some pretty fresh modern stuff still.
New Track - Minimalist technoyeah I couldnt decide about the organ volume. Originally it was louder, but seemed to stick out too much.
I brought the volume down and could barely hear, so found the middle ground (and a little reverb) The effect I was looking for was one complete sounds with the organ and the bassline. But point taken on board, I will see what other people say as well. If anyone does like this track, here is a short sample I uploaded: Preview Last edited by Steven_Blair on Sun Jun 14, 2009 3:16 pm, edited 1 time in total.
New Track - Minimalist technoI think you may be better off with creative delay on that organ there Steve? It's cool at a low volume like you say, but I was kinda expecting a kinda dub delay to kick in and swel it up at points? Just my 2 cents.
Think you're better than Jeff Mills already. (As your ego just ignited... )
New Track - Minimalist technoI liked this. Stays true to the technoid formula.
New Track - Minimalist technoYep, this is a cool bit of Techno, my only gripe or suggestion would be the reverse cymbal sounds a bit weak, could be better and more contemporary sounding by replicating the effect with white noise and lots of verb, you hear that a lot in stuff doing the rounds at the minute.
New Track - Minimalist technothanks for the comments.
DEE, I was listening to the tracvk again tonight and thought the reversed cymbal was a bit weak. What do mean exactly regarding the white noise? Maybe I am just being stupid, but if you could give me an example?
New Track - Minimalist techno
I'll upload something over the next few days, check back for a listen
New Track - Minimalist technoYeah, the reverse Cymball is too tiny. The speed is way to high. I would go for 126 or 124 bpm.
But the track is cool. Like it!

Here is a mp3 of what I described, and the link to the .sfs bundled with samples if you want to use it. The cymbals are replaced by washes of white noise, in fact it could even use MORE verb if you want to really push it. MP3 plays in window http://www.box.net/shared/c0v4bs678y .SFS Sample Bundled file http://www.box.net/shared/ezx9y9fghz
New Track - Minimalist technooh yes this is really good.
If you are bored sometime, maybe you want the sfs of my tune to remix. Really liked what you did there and I will take a look at your sfs
New Track - Minimalist technoAs the doctors convene over the patient....
The White noise example - what about slowly incresing modulation after it peaks and is slopping downwards. Needs to kinda 'shimmer out' IMHO... If I may use a Brian Eno term.
