Recomended site to help you increase your sample collection Why , guys, do you look so surprised ? It's not the first time we speak about this website ... It's a good one anyway ...
Recomended site to help you increase your sample collectionThis site is not only about downloading samples, you can upload them too as long as they are originally from you. In fact this is the point, to have a world huge sample collection under creative commons licence.
Keep in mind that if you use samples from there you have to credit the authors of the samples in your release. And I'm not sure about the licence, but seems to me that all compositions using those samples must be released under the same licence and not generatte money. Unless you get the permission from the uploaders. Last edited by JavierRubio on Mon Jun 22, 2009 10:11 am, edited 1 time in total.
Recomended site to help you increase your sample collectionI like the 'sample packs' aspect. Got me a lovely 'neglected piano' there, And a lot of of the nature sounds is really well done too.
(Game applications and such. ) The only thing I don't like about these types of sample sites is the searching and expectations. IE; You might come across Fender Jazz Bass and think 'oh, I bet this'll be good!' - and it's really crap. But if you check out My Dumb Bass - it's really a lot better. I tend to stick with Lo-Fi and Vocal samples when I'm at these places, then I'm not too let down most of the time.
Recomended site to help you increase your sample collectionThis site I agree is not for full on insturmental samples but rather odd stuff you might want to add into a track.

Recomended site to help you increase your sample collectionFunny you should mention that Joe-Joe. I'm of the 'old school' where I tend to let a sound clip or sample be inspirational, and build a song around it. But today I think many of the young bucks tend to develop their tracks firstly, then put interesting samples on top. Not that either way is right or wrong - I just find it interesting. Very rarely do I come across a sample site and play stuff and say 'Oh, thats what my old unfinished song really needs!'. But on the other hand, I can come across some buzzy weird sample and say 'I can picture this building type of epic song around this one.' Weird huh?
Recomended site to help you increase your sample collectionI think there is a million ways to start a track. I really liked that site because I wanted an electrical buzz sound, similar to something you find off a frankienstine movie. I added it to something that I had devloping, I usually do both in a single song. I am pretty old these days been useing Orion for some time now. I guess its good I posted that so now I have to hook some people up with credit and what not, so I will definately have to plan ahead!

Recomended site to help you increase your sample collectionAhhh, the ol' Van Der Graaf Generator as Peter Boyle is putting on the ritz.
In the days of Netscape and all, samples and or quality was hard to come by. But just putting in a Google search for 'Free Sound FX' is mind boggling now. And I'm sure if you do a 'Frakenstein Science Lab Audio Clip .WAV MP3' something will turn up.
