Posted a "new" song called RappersRequiem at http://www.mediafire.com/brianwong - a microtonal piece done with Csound/blue. Ok, it has nothing to do with Orion, but wtf, you might like it. It is in .wav format, so the download is fairly large (~ 36Mb). Also check out "Clackhere" if you missed it when I posted it a while ago, it is an Orion piece.
There is a story behind the title of the song. A couple years ago I gave a copy of the piece to a friend who owns a recording studio. At the time he was running a charity program for troubled youth, and he liked the piece and played it for a young rapper kid. The kid wanted to record a rap over it, so my friend stuck some godawful 12TET piano tinkling over it and the kid did a rap to it. Anyhow, a few weeks later the boy was found dead after falling from the top of his apartment building. It was deemed a suicide by the police, but his family think he was pushed. I can't remember his name and have no idea what title he gave the song, but it probably exists out there on the web somewhere.

New Track - RappersRequiemFirst off your story is freaky yet very intrigueing. The song is very chilling itself and not what I was expecting by the title. I definately felt this track. I think you and Darren Aronofsky (Director of: Requim for a Dream, The Foutian [best movie and Sound Track{Clint Mansel} ever!!] and The Wrestler) need to get together and make a movie about this rapper kid. I think you just need a tap in the right direction man!! Cool Song Dude!!!

New Track - RappersRequiemHear you on The Wrestler Joe-Joe! Renewed my interest in Hollywood integrity! Well, the 1% that isn't bullshit that is, Great movie!
Intriguing story as well Borion, I'd love to hear the tune - but just don't have the connection for it. (Takes me 10min to play a 3MB MP3, I'm so lame!)
New Track - RappersRequiemThe Wrestler was okay, I defiantely recomend the The Foutian. The Movie both makes sense and at the same time makes no sense at all (I know, I know). If anything you should check it out for the wonderful music by Clint Mansel.

New Track - RappersRequiemThanks very much for listening and commenting joe-joe! After talking to my friend I now know the boy's name was Rial. Needless to say I would love to see this piece used in any film, particularly if I made some money from it.
Perhaps the title does lead one to expect something more in the hip hop vein, but that is my sneaky way of getting more people to listen to it than if I called it "Microtonal experiment #6". Dungeon Studio - The files can be downloaded to disk, it is not streamed. Last edited by borion on Sat Jul 04, 2009 2:07 am, edited 1 time in total.
New Track - RappersRequiemI hear you borion. It'd still take me a good afternoon to do so. But I'll keep it in mind.
New Track - RappersRequiemAn afternoon to download 36 Mb? Ouch. Well, as an added incentive I just also posted a computer game I wrote a few years back. It is fbdemo.exe and weighs in at under 2 Mb. The game is called "Frogbar" and is one-dimensional Frogger tribute that plays in an emulation of the Windows taskbar. It runs on Win 98 and XP, never tested it on Vista but it probably won't run there.
