Hous track upI like it! Don't know why, but it made me think of Missy Elliot for some reason? The only quam of mine is too many dead stops in the intro. Try to cover two or three of them wit h just HH or something, then a dead stop - and boom into the bass and beat and all.
"I like vegetables, oh baby can't you see? Just chillin' at the farm while I sit among the cabbages and peas..." I could hear Missy singing that over top.
Hous track upthanks for the feedback. I was thinking the stops were a bit too dead but I thought it was alright. I've put a 'ta - ta - - ta' in the empty space and it covers up the void.
Now to find Missy Elliot to hear what you hear...
Hous track upnice track, tuiun. Not sure about house, sounds more like minimal.
The track builds up nicely but then stops building up again (1rd quarter). But it's cool when the little synthline start. Dungeon is absolutely right about the dead stops in the intro. Was also my thought. Like it! Last edited by DaZoid on Fri Jul 03, 2009 10:37 am, edited 1 time in total.
Hous track upWithout a doubt minimal, but good minimal though!

I think they are a bit dead in the intro, just one blip would clue the listener that their ipod hadn't died.

I was kinda kidding about Missy (though I do think she's fantastic!) Just that you and her tended to take the most minimal approach, yet make it sound fat and funky. That's what I was getting at. Not a easy thing to do, but you did it well!
Hous track uptuin, I actually like the breaks at the begining, if you wanted to "improve" on them, then use some noise ran through a bandpass filter at very low volume. The Sampler is great for this type of stuff.

Hous track upOh yes the song is pretty grovey, it would get the girls out on the dance floor making wind fly up there skirts!!!

No, 4 breaks in a row is a no go. It breaks the flow. I would use one break before the intro goes over into the next block (bar 17) and take the other 3 out. You could make the start a bit more interesting (if you think otherwise it's too boring) by building up tiny variations in the rhytmic elements before bar 5, 9 or 13. no breaks bar 5 9 13 then break @ bar 17 when the bassline appears @ bar 25 the build up collapses again which, for me, does not fit into the build up. It's a step back. But anyway. Only my suggestions. Last edited by DaZoid on Sat Jul 04, 2009 7:12 am, edited 1 time in total.
Hous track upi agree with dazoid on the breaks
Hous track upAs the composer I'd have to agree too. I'll post a new "breakless" version later today if or tomorrow.
Hous track upDon;t make it totally 'breakless' though. I agree what DaZoid is saying. But I think it's good to give everyone a 'whiplash effect' Right after a big chorus or bridge portion - STOP - and back into the groove and rebuild up to the chorus repeat, and out.
Hous track upWell I put in a few clicks to cover up those empty spaces.
