Giving Vocaloids 'Lola' a whirl, and she got all moody on me. Lyrically, I wasn't sure what the heck to make her say... But in lieu of the 4th of July, it started making a bit of sense. You're either for it, or against it.

Communist Robots And The 4th Of July?Is that some dBlue Glitch? How do you like Lola?
Track reminds me of a show called "Look Around You". Phreque.com - Weapons-Grade Awesome.
Communist Robots And The 4th Of July?I like DB's Glitch, but have grown so acustomed to SmartElectronix stuff. It's fater for me to whip out 2 or 3 of those gems and make a AM Radio sound than anything else. As for Lola, she isn't bad! More melodic than Speakonia or SAM. But working the phonemes and timing is a REAL chore! And the music, yeah - I wanted it to sound like a California game show meets Stereolab. But wanted something so jarring in it, it'd wipe the smile of Bob Barkers face. I think I'm pretty close with this one.
Communist Robots And The 4th Of July?lol new to this vocaliod thing. checked your track ds, i feel if only you had a real singer. i think this vocaloid thing needs more r&d. i couldint make out what the hell lola was trying to say.
i think YamaNeko will like lola
Communist Robots And The 4th Of July?Well, she's no worse than Laetitia or Nico - if you ever heard a Stereolab or Velvet Underground record. I'm wrestling with the virtues of it as well. If we didn' have Vocoders, and Speakonias, and Melodynes, and Auto Tune 5's - I could see something like Vocoloid then. Yet the technology I find intriguing still. (wanted to work at Bell Labs in my short lived youth. ) I should be more creative with Speakonia and a vocoder, and may sound better than Vocoloid?
But tough to wrap my head around a 'speech synthesizer' vs. 'a singing synthesizer'. Now I got Vocaloid, watch - I'll trump Lola with a free Speakonia and g200kg's VocoVee. :superlol:
Communist Robots And The 4th Of July?btw i was talking abt the product Vocaloid that needs more r&d, not your track.
Communist Robots And The 4th Of July?I think both are applicable. But hopefully a wee bit better than the stuff I've seen on YouTube. 'Sweet Ann' singing 'We Are The Robots' and 'Leon' et al doing 'Every Breath You Take' These people are just feeding in a raw ,MID file and I don't think are taking the time to finese the voice at all? Just get silly voices to sing silly songs, and badly at that. Alvin & The Chipmunks or Singing Cats is more creative than what most are doing with Vocaloid so far I've heard.
But then there's that Japanese pop star... And I'm sure YamaNeko knows ALL about her. Totally fabricated, animated, and emulated via Vocaloid. And apparently is as big as Britney Spears or Hannah Montana. A handful of guys working in cubicles for lord knows how long to make her sing. There goes that Berklee degree. :lmao:
Communist Robots And The 4th Of July?:superlol: ugh reminds me of my grad school days

Communist Robots And The 4th Of July?lovely tune Steven, great music, dunno why, but it makes me think
of the residents in some way or other... in any case, it rocks, well it doesn't, but it's great anyway

I'm not related to this video http://djhikari.promodj.ru - my music experiments
Communist Robots And The 4th Of July?Forgot about Vocaloid, nice track, listening on laptop, so couldnt understand a word said lol
Communist Robots And The 4th Of July? Thanks guys. The Residents Cuppa? Now that's some pretty good praise! I was thinking Stereolab at best.
YamaNeko - But you must like the graphics of the girl and all? It seems to be your style of this Animei? Wouldn't you think it would be cool to work in Japan on something like that? Dee - even on good monitors here, it's tough to make out as well. I didn't process it too much in the way of compression and limiting and all. More so trying to finese the delivery. And belive me - some of those words sound really odd when typed normally. (IE; 'Happy' sounds like Hope-i, so I had to put it in as Ha-pee. And so on )
Communist Robots And The 4th Of July?ha ha Steven,
well, i never liked stereolab , so yes residents is a compliment, btw also listened to your other tracks and liked them a lot you seem to be on a creative high :hut:

First, it's written ANIME. Without that 'i' at the end. And yes, it would be great to work in Japan. But if you don't know, it's impossible. But I've been in Japan for 10 days Love this country. And South Korea too Asia is amazing. About Vocaloids - they sing in Japanese better than English. But do you know what VST/VSTi (freeware I mean) can I use to make speech sound like this http://kbk.nm.ru/Brave%20sound.wav ? BTW, this is Korean sample I've found software that is used to make Voclaoid videos. It'w free, called MikuMikuDance and can be downloaded from http://www.geocities.jp/higuchuu4/index_e.htm Last edited by YamaNeko on Mon Jul 06, 2009 3:43 am, edited 1 time in total.
