I spent today playing around with this idea. Whaddya think? Colours can be as mix and match as you like, I just tried a few different combos.
This is an idea for a very simple, clean look for the synths. Ignore the knob-like things, they are just place-holders for the moment.

More Bits For the New SkinI like the 3rd and 5th images the most, and the 5th is the best to my taste.
More Bits For the New SkinI much preferred the other style you posted before. I like these color schemes but the style is a bit too "modern' for me.
More Bits For the New SkinI prefer second one. Light backgrounds are better for me

More Bits For the New Skinthey look a bit 'cheap/tacky' to me, and also a bit like a roll of film...

More Bits For the New SkinIm' not fan of the front style, (except for the sampler)
the firt panel of colour is really cool. as far as I have some trouble with the red, the second and third aren't convenient for me. to me, http://www.fluxhome.com/ have one of the best gui I ever saw. What is nice except the knobs are the sepcial area for each group of parametrer. (I just saw the double post sorry) Last edited by Eklectro on Mon Jul 06, 2009 6:13 pm, edited 1 time in total.

More Bits For the New SkinKrim, "roll of film"? Whaddya mean? I know it looks a bit busy, but you have to remember there will be a lot more empty space across the screen when you use it. Same for the Synth Toolbar. I think it might also help to download the image and separate each part, so that it doesn't get so overwhelming. If you look at the adjusted Sampler image, you can see that the synth toolbar looks much cleaner in that context.
Teksonik, the Sampler skin is very much in the style of the mixer work I was doing before. isn't it? If you think how it will look with the Synth Toolbar on top of it, I think the effect will be just about right. I've adjusted the Sampler image to reflect that. Elektro, I think when you see a finished synth, it will look a lot like that Flux stuff. If you imagine the sampler with those knobs instead of the grey discs, you'll have a good idea. I definitely prefer my font though, it's bolder, more stylish and easier to read. For the sake of clear communication, let's call the top one [both main and synth toolbars] the DARK version, the middle one the LIGHT version and the bottom one the NOVA-III version. Points for discussion would be whether the blue or red works better with each, which you prefer, what you think of the full-width VU meters top and bottom of the toolbar or if it's all just rubbish and I'm wasting my time. If you go for the latter, you'll need to provide constructive criticism with it. BTW, the blank area in the main toolbar will have the master volume knob on it somewhere. I just haven't decided how I want to do it yet, so ideas are welcome. For the record, I've pretty much decided I am going to do the NOVA-III version for myself anyway, so if you want something completely different, I'm up for it as well. For the Version 8 release, we only need to get the mixer and toolbars done, so it's not really a whole lot of work. Last edited by bones on Mon Jul 06, 2009 2:21 pm, edited 1 time in total.

More Bits For the New SkinI was trying to find the screenshot of the other mixer you posted before. Found the url but the pic must be gone
http://www.novakill.com/stuff/GI_mockup-00P.png Anyway I seem to remember it being very light colored with a bit more traditional look. Nothing wrong with the examples you've posted today but if I was able to choose I would prefer the earlier, clean hardware look. Just my preference.
More Bits For the New SkinI prefer the first one, the blue leds are clearer! But number 3 is good to!

More Bits For the New SkinPersonally, I'm feeling kind of disappointed. I thought you'll try to rework the skin to resemble what you've been doing before with 3DS, so looking at these I can say that No.2 (Light) goes more in that fashion, except that I think that red text works bettern than blue/cyan. The "Dark" one reminds me of FL Studio, don't know why, maybe because it's dark :hihi:
I won't go into the third (Nova) skin, I never used your skins, one for the too narrow mixer strips (never could really get used to it), and then there's the yellow/orange combination of the text that I don't really prefer that much. But, you're doing it for yourself, as you always did, so the third one is entirely up to you Also, I'm not quite sure how to put it, but I think the placement of the VU meters can be a bit distracting, being that the strips aren't next to each other, and you have almost the entire height of the toolbar between then. I think the old placement would be better, imo of course. So, if we're up to voting, I'm for #2 - Light version, but I'm not too happy about it :hihi: I would like to see how it would work with the mixer. SoundCloud ::: Facebook
