I was tempted to title it 'Is Reggae Still Big?' - but should try and conserve Rich's server space somewhat.
Anyhow if you're here based on the title, I reckon it must be. And I hope I don;t let you down now with that kind of build up.... Just a nice song for a nice gal called 'Sarafina'...

Jah Rastifa! Kingston Stylie Selector Time!I'm tempted to say : did you ever hear a big hit on a spring reverb Steven ?
http://rapidshare.com/files/261143525/0 ... b.mp3.html Too old for zat maybee ?
Jah Rastifa! Kingston Stylie Selector Time!Irie mon, Kewl runnings. Well, honestly my Rasta friends would probably not recognize this as reggae. The bass line works fine but rhythmically I think you need something percussive on the upbeats (traditionally guitar or piano-like sound) to make it more reggae. That aside, this is a very nice composition with some good melodic interplay.
Jah Rastifa! Kingston Stylie Selector Time!Okay, I'm busted. It's actually more African than 'reggae' I admit.
Y'ssou N'dour with a little Peter Tosh maybe? Just wanted to see who'd come running out for some reggae. Sorry I had to be so Peter Gabriel with this. All be fine in District 9.

It's dub man.But I doubt your friend would say that king tubby is not part of the reggae movment. At the present time I think it's the best example I have of the typical use of a spring by a 70's reaggae master.

Jah Rastifa! Kingston Stylie Selector Time!Definately not reggae imo, dont know where I would place it , in the unholy confusion that is genres. Nice arrangement though, not my usual listening choice, but not an unpleasant one !
Jah Rastifa! Kingston Stylie Selector Time!Yeah, it should be I agree.
Just can't attract people with 'World' as easily.
