New Track - WannakkrrakkerWow! This is definately Minimal to the Max! It's cool - but I'm listening to it from a soundtrack underlay kinda perspective. That 75hz low end drone is awesome and disturbing. And those distant voice stabs (Ultran?) are nicely done too. Is that a Ugo device doing the rythem sounds?
If I had my way, it'd be in District 9 right now.
New Track - WannakkrrakkerThanks Dungeonstudio!
It is definitely meant as soundtrack underlay type of material, like much of my work. All sounds are generated by Anamark, with no other effects. For this type of scale (and most of the scales I use) Anamark is the only synth I have that can use the tuning files, outside of Csound. New Track - Wannakkrrakkerin massive you can adjust the scale too.

New Track - WannakkrrakkerThere are plenty of other synths that have full microtonal capability now, I only have the one at the moment though. z3ta+, rapture, wusikstation, Pianoteq, Astralis, to name a few more. Frankly I am just saving up for Kyma.
Er, what is District 9? Last edited by borion on Sun Aug 09, 2009 4:33 pm, edited 1 time in total.
New Track - Wannakkrrakkerorion can use tuning scale as far as i know ...
what is the problem ? Yamaha CS-30, Roland SH-1, Roland MKS70, Focusrite Scarlett 18i6, Yamaha FS1R, Oberheim Matrix 1000, Novation Remote 37SL, Korg Legacy, Alesis M1Active 520, Novation Launchpad Pro, Push2, Intel i7-7700HQ
New Track - WannakkrrakkerOrion generators (and not all of them!) can only use tuning scales with 12 notes per octave. The scale used for this song has seven notes per octave. It is of course possible to map just 7 notes for them within the 12TET system (only white keys in this case), however Anamark accepts the 7 note per octave scale (any number less than 128) and allows easy specification of exact base frequency, so is easier to work with. Obviously in cases where the scale has more than 12 notes per octave, using a subset of 12TET is no longer an option.
The upcoming version of Anamark will also feature different scales on individual midi channels, which is going to be VERY useful. If you have ever tried to use Orion's event editor to effect multiple changes in base frequency you would know why..... :S One other point. Having the synth load the tuning allows the possibility of having different instances of the synth in different tunings. Orion's system affects the ALL the generators in the song at once, greatly restricting modulation possibilities. Last edited by borion on Sun Aug 09, 2009 6:29 pm, edited 1 time in total.

New Track - WannakkrrakkerYou got the dissonance really nice on this then. I was thinking you were using pitch shift mangling with Ultran or something?
Anamark you say....? I'm intrigued. You know Lord Of The Rings? District 9 - same guy, but getting back to some NEW Sci-Fi thankfully. Should be at a theater near you soon.
New Track - WannakkrrakkerI can definitely see where you would think the chord stabs are Ultran, the shimmer certainly is reminiscent of Ultran sounds. The dissonance/consonance is mainly the result of the scale itself, the drone pads are built up just of simple 1:1 FM notes.
New Track - WannakkrrakkerI got some pretty decent monitors here, and those drones were definately enveloping. On a THX system, it'd be awesome I bet.
Reminds me of, and what most people miss watching Ghostbusters on TV - the bit where the crew is in the hotel elevator. It's their first job, and they never tested these nuclear power zapping packs they all have strapped on there backs. Murray switches on Ackroyds, and this incredible drone much like yours comes out in the theater. The other crew slowly slide over to the other side of the elevator then. But you definately managed to get that great sub bass drone - which is not easy to do!
New Track - WannakkrrakkerThat is good to know!
I have only my headphones and the lousy stereos of my friends to test things on, and my friends stereos with their tiny little speakers cannot reproduce this type of bass. I just realized, I should have called this DARK polyrhythmic just intonation, maybe I would have got more downloads. I know it is dark because I made the Voidloss Butoh guys dance to it and they smiled.
