psy goa track prevPsy - yes; goa - not so much.
Where it all falls into the trance category, goa leans toward the mystic and spiritual, going into the depths of the universe, touching souls. Now, transferring that energy to the dancefloor, it's supposed to make listeners' bodies sway, hands wave through the air as if they're flying, or making their way through some invisible force field, mixing colors while their very essence floats above them; instead of stomping feet and jumping in place... which is what psy trance tends to do more. This particular track of yours, leans more toward the subgenre usually called Full On for the intensive use of sound effects (synth based effects, not the effects themselves), it has some of the characteristics, not all; so I'd dare to call it a blend, and a pretty nice one too. So, let's disect it... :hihi: First thing I noticed first time I listened it once start to finish is that there is no consistency. You tend to break it often, and by breaking I mean taking away components that should be constant and driving. I guess it's your way to break the monotony that can develop throughout the track. Second thing was kick and bass. Although well balanced, the bass would need to shift just a pinch deeper. The patterns that start at 0:24, 2:40, 5:33, are perfect examples of a consistent bassline. The one that starts at 2:13 would have been great if you did something more on the melodic level. It would complement a lead, for example, perfectly. I also notice almost complete absence of hihats. Where they are introduced, they aren't really that, or aren't very prominent, or you take them away too soon. The first really noticable hihat I've heard that really made my attention focused is starting around 4:33, and doesn't last for too long. The next crash, and they're gone, instead going on consistently, driving, introducing one new thing after another, till it's time for something else, like the bassline shift, which again as noticed, you tend to play with a lot. Just before 5:33, you had a great opportunity to show how bright it shines. A good uplifting moment, yet you continue on the minimum level. You should have continued with maximum force, for some period of time, making it a peak of the track, and slowly bringing it down toward the end. Those exact moments are the "drivers" that tend to make people jump and stomp their feet :hihi: All in all, if you wanted to move in the psy trance / full on direction, you're on a good course Last edited by HYPNAGOGIA on Mon Aug 10, 2009 1:12 am, edited 1 time in total.

psy goa track prevfirst of all thx a lot Hypnagogia for all you wrote (even the big introduction to goa !)
actually as I said, its my first attempt and I really know that there is a lack of coherence. I need to select best idea, to keep them and give them progression. Also, I'm a very eklectic listner, and try to make many kind of music, ranging from ambient, to clubbing house, psy, drum n bass, hardcore etc... Thats why it is hard for me to be good everywhere and why there are that kind of mixed style. Secondly I don't like to much the pure (psy, goa, full on ? whatever) trance sound that make the hit on biggest production like what can do silicone sound or be released on the 26th goahead. I really prefer psy stuff that can do kindzadza for instance :p (can U feel it !!!!) However, I like to break the flow with this way of breaking the bass line to keep some minimal melodic bass ryhtm like @ 2'12. it is kind of my "style" : just a few melodic pattern, and then turn back to psy. Of course I admit that the track is not really coherent, and thus I will wait a bit to work it later (or never...) I knew also what you said about hihats, but actually I was too lazy to find some good one and its only at the end that I found some interresting one (I also added it then to the pattern earlier in the playlist). The kind of climax @ 5'33 (not worked at all ^^) is turned to the base just later. like in minimal techno. Actually I hate this but it is really less work, also, It would need then 1 minute more of energy and new Idea. The rack would be 8', thats correct I need to work with method... not ez when its not acid techno where only a pattern can lead a track for 8 mins ! Concerning the deepness of the bass sound, I could have maybe my 30€ subbox a bit too loud and then I don't know if there is nee to eq it. Also the key of this bass is a bit high, but I like this cause it give to the full on style some more punch to me. thx again. psy goa track prev1. Decrease the decay of the kick for about 20%
2. Something what starts at about 4:00 makes me nerves there (in whole song make this sound 20% lower and at about 4:00 put something else). The rest - like Hypna said. Next comments after above two things changed As I know Your sounds I didn't expect You can do something like this one Last edited by Marcin on Tue Aug 11, 2009 6:05 am, edited 1 time in total.

psy goa track prevSorry, don't know how to call that ... sth like kick?
Correct me if You know what I mean
psy goa track prevOK i heard the sound. Its just the attack of the kick.
Actually I knew it was really loud, but these kind of changes anre made once all track is exported to multi wav, where I can cut part to adjust level. As it was a very beta version with structure to rework, I didn't made these changes. I admit that this click is really hi, and my kick must maybe not go 48 semitones down ! however it is with that valu that I had minimum phase with the bassline (main key) and yeah, at the end of the break I might put another sound (sanre or kick are too concentional, need to find something special), but its not for tonight ! thx again. al Orion 8, Live 8Le, Cubase 4 LE, Cantana, APC40, UC16, Fostex PM1MKII, Q9550, 4G0, 1,5T, 22"+15"
