for better forum reference as it is a rare, lucky discovery, it might be useful for some.

(tested with Live 9.1 64bit and orion 32bit 7.62, win7 64bit)
i had never tried 8+ versions because of "rewire slave" remove
but...
You can use orion 7.62 32bit in rewire slave mode in a 64bit system

you have to try this software: ReWire 64-32bit bridge: http://blogs.yahoo.co.jp/alipapa_p/63031495.html

After installing... rewire.dll file will be copied in Windows\SysWOW64 folder (64bit registry has some other paths also for 32bit applications if you want to look for rewire registered devices, search for it if you like)

At the beginning there was no rewire at all. Luckily I tried an other version of rewire.dll 1.8.2 copied from a win7 32-bit system and... it worked! Perfect sync.
You have to overwrite rewire.dll version 1.8.6 that comes with the ReWire 64-32bit bridge with the older one.

good luck

ps. if the developers will ever come back with rewire slaving functionality, there has to be some short of redesign, there is need for the main mixer also not only the master one! every channel as like it is in "solo" state in main mixer.
