Emu Proteus VX, is it lagging in OP for others?Actually, I have had issues with the Proteus VX in a number of host. It seems as if it is a pretty unstable plug-in all around. UVI Workstation is a free multichannel sampler VSTi that seems to function fine for me in Orion, of course it does not come packaged with as comprehensive of a sound library as Proteus VX, but I'm sure if you look around the net you might be able to find some nice samples for free, or for a marginal fee. UVI Workstation has some very nice features for a free sampler, like an arpeggiator, and is compatible with many existing libraries and formats.
Emu Proteus VX, is it lagging in OP for others?I tend to agree qvisual. The sounds of the Proteus are great, and the drums especially have that Emu old school quality. BUT - I think they were so focused on getting 'the sound' in their plug, they totally forgot where and what was going to be using the plug. Same with something like the PPG Waveterm (though it's timing is good AFAIK) So focused on it's realism and reproduction. But in OP and other hosts, it's a bugger to program and compose with really.
Ah, good ol' Ableton huh V/A? Now are you doing drum patterns with it, or fast synths and basslines? I think I've done some pretty fast playing in OP with it, and can't hear any glitches. Definately though on drums, it falls to pieces pretty sporadically.
Emu Proteus VX, is it lagging in OP for others?Interesting reading about the Emu products. I have the Proteus X2 and also got the Emulator X3 for a reasonable cost compared to the RRP... later on in the year I should have used it more - but from what use I have had of it upto now if you save the state of the X2 X3 etc.... you should be abe to re-call the instrument into any host - Cubase or Orion or otherwise......
How it works in the real world I only hope it doesn't let me down.... but there are some good libraries techno synths/orchestral etc.... that can't be bad......
