I decided to give the Black Eyed Peas Remix contest a go. However, I have a problem. Beatport just gives mp3's for download!!! argh!!!!!...... I thought, by the way they worded the rules, that they provide wav files for the download pack, but no. To get wav files, I have to pay extra to have them burn it to a cd, and send by mail. The contest doesn't even give that long for doing the remix.
So, now my question....... Is there a way to batch convert the mp3's to wav files? I usually use soundforge for editing. I will work on it this weekend, so if needs be, I will convert each seperately, but if anyone knows a better/quicker way, you'd make my saturday much more fun. Thanx!
Also, this is my first remix. Anyone got any pointers for me?
They don't list the original BPM of the track, so I'm kind of interested in learning an organic way of figuring that out. i.e. - what did people do prior to bpm detectors?
Thanks guys!

need help please! Batch convert?I do it sometimes in WaveLab, it's pretty simple in it. I think Soundforge would be the same? I think it's Bones that uses Soundforge as his main editor, and from my understanding from him - there's not much difference from WaveLab really. All the tools should be there, and Bones could probably walk you through it a snap. BPM finding as well. It's a drag, but you'll have to kinda loop the beat in SF. Starting on the bass drum and ending at the next BD after 2 or 4 measures. Probably tools in SF will signify the BPM then, or theres downloadable free calculators that work sample length or size to BPM.
I use one called Music Calculator that I really like. but had it for like 10 years now and couldn't tell you where I got it from? But Black Eyed Peas remix...? I'd like to remix Fergie all over a bedsheet, but that's about as far as I'd go.

Yeah, I know, I know. Not really my thang eidder, but I wanted to test myself. Plus, the prizes are kinda cool for the person who wins. I'd be happy placing in the top 10 though. The thing I really don't get, is why the funny stuff about mp3's. The rules say exactly: 'you don't have to download the WAV files to enter the competition. The mix stems are only available in the download pack' or something exactly like that with a word or two off. Sounds to me like 'you buy the pack, you get wav files'. @Krim - Thanks, that looks like it might fit the bill. Working on a new song now, that I was using to test the beta. I'm hoping to post it soon.
need help please! Batch convert?totally does the trick, thanks!! The first vocal track is loaded, and complimented with nothing less than massive bleed from the headphones. That really sucks. Ok, I remember being in the studio, and that was like a total norm....... but when I go to record, we don't even have these problems when we lack a proper iso booth. what do you guys think? Is it the engineer's problem, or the fact that the guy is so deaf he has to turn his phones way up to hear himself? Last edited by Icaro on Fri Aug 28, 2009 8:20 am, edited 1 time in total.
need help please! Batch convert?oh, and the bleed is audibly understandable. I can hear the song in the background as if I'm standing just outside the stadium, or venue, or what not.
