Internet settings; Runtime Error/Blank Page?

Postby Dungeon Studio » Sat Feb 27, 2010 10:31 pm

This is starting to burn my ass now. On Gmail, if someone sends me a link I would click on it and would get 'Runtime Error'. And after a second or two the page would open fine, with a ballon message 'Tab has been recovered'. Now it gives me Runtime warning, but when the page opens - it just says 'Blank Page' and nothing?
Yet if I right click on link and select 'Open In New Window' link opens and works fine.

The problem started after I took my lappy in to be serviced a year or so ago. I expressed to the Chinese gal my fear of viruses and such. And when I got it back it was with this runtime business. So I figured it's some setting change she had done so I can be better protected. But now this 'Blank Page' business is ticking me off.

Where do I need to go, and what to change in my lappy settings to fix this?
And hopefully it's not too difficult, as I'm a real lame-O with this internet protocol still.

Ha-ha-ha. No, I'm not interested in Viagra, and got the phishing stuff all on. ;) These are links to say someones song on Boxnet, YouTube messages, a sale at a VST vendor, etc. Things that should work without incident. But always this Runtime business I don't understand now.?

Poopy old IE. I know, I lnow - I've got Fiefox too. Just so used to using IE, and everythings arranged so on it. And I think it's IE8? I downloaded the update and ran it. But couldn't see no physical change, and this issue has come up since?

MS couldn't be THAT bad could they?

Couldnt they?
I have old outlook 2002 running on about 5 of the 25 machines here, and just about the time MS announced 'paid support only' before dropping it completely, there were several updates installed and these progs were pretty stable for the last 8 years, but now problems that are too hard to handle. Fonts changing to light yellow and becoming 2 point sized so no one can read anything, but all the settings say black and 10 and if you ask for help the fuckers say....buy 2007.......

you could roll it back man.

I hear you UFO. Not that I ever put TOTAL faith in MS, but always thought Bill trying to do the right thing. For me W2K was as right as it could get. Even on XP now, I'm not doing or using anything different than I did 15 years ago... Okay, I made the big switch from NetScape to IE is all. But I guess Bill's pretty well out of the picture, and lord knows who's really running the show there?

And literally forcing the user to follow so many security measures and 'Recommended Protocols' I'm totally lost now? Security update ON, Phishing Filter OFF, Google Toolbar Blocker ON, but 'Allow'. And then if I turn one thing off or on, everything goes out the window.
