shepard tonetry a vst? eg-> The Endless Series
shepard toneI'll check that out, thanks.
I'm sure this can be reproduced a little more organically though, if you know what I mean. I'm curious if anyone knows how. The Tom Cosm tut on youtube is pretty close, but it's not 100%
shepard toneOrganically? Be prepared for some real manual work, unless there's a way to instantly make lower and higher octaves increase and decrease in volume. Tom made a simple example of just sliding notes, yet in Orion, for that, you'd need 3 instances for 4 notes slides because of volume changes. Octave chords could work in one with changing velocities, I suppose. But it's a tedious work, IMO.

shepard toneI got something a little similar with four wasps, and a descending pad, and then stream it to file, and loaded it into the sampler. Played with attack and release in the sampler to get it to fit.
It doesn't totally sound like an authentic shepard tone, but it has a bit of the same effect on the ears. At least for me. Although you can still hear the changes when the next pattern starts. http://www.box.net/shared/fx4d95uhbm I tried automating volume slides on the wasps, but there are funny pops and such when the pattern resets. I heard a shepard tone in a Son Kite song, and always wondered what it was....... until a couple days ago. Edit: The first pattern retrigger sounds the worst. Afterwards it comes closer IMO.
