Do you any of you do vocals within orion? Just slice it up and then put in sampler?
I tried put the vocal in the audio track, but it seems like there is only one sample per track? Have I got that right?
I'm working on a project with vocals while at the same time building up my orion expertise.

Re: using vocals within orion
Sampler, DrumRack, Audio Track... whatever works. I use DR mostly, but I deal with short snippets of voices, so it's more convenient for me to arrange the patterns with DR's step sequencer.
No, you can have as many files loaded within the same audio track. Just click somewhere else on the track and load another file. SoundCloud ::: Facebook
Re: using vocals within orionI used vocals in a more traditional sense.
First, I throw down a basic mix of the song for the purpose of singing along to it.. Then, I load that up into Audacity and record the vocals there. I do any over all processing to the full take, basic high pass, compression, normalization. Then I chop them up into verse 1 take 1, verse 2 take 1, chorus 1 take 1, etc. I fade in and out the starts and stops for a more natural feel to any noise, breathing, etc. I import these sections into an audio track in Orion, two or more if I'm doing layering or backing vocals. Yes, multiple samples can be loaded into an audio track. If I was using shorter voice samples, in a more electronic/dance music sort of way, then I would probably use the Sampler.
Re: using vocals within orionAudio Tracks here, too. I used to record them elsewhere but for our last album and our more recent recordings, I've been recording straight into Orion. Once recorded, they go out to SoundForge where I remove everything that might show up once I add distortion, which means all the noise, all breaths and everything else. Then I throw them back into Orion and spend days/weeks flicking between Orion and SoundForge making sure that every syllable is perfectly timed. I just find that easier than spending too much time, wherever I do the recording, getting the takes perfect.

Re: using vocals within orionCool. I was messing around with chopping up the vocal and putting it into the sampler and got some joy and flexibility out that. Even learned that the groove slicer slice multiple wavs and had a bit more fun.
Couldn't believe all I got out of audacity. Thanks for the contributions.
