Hi Everyone,
Happy new year!
I've been messing around a lot with DUNE lately, and discovered something I thought was extremely cool.
It's probably obvious to the veterans out there, but here goes...
First off you need more than 1 voice in your patch.
In the mod matrix map VOICE # ---to---> LFO 1 Phase, and now that LFO is amazing!
Doing this spaces out the timing of the modulation for each voice and even small values are effective.
For example if you now assign LFO 1 ---to---> Filter Cutoff, you get a layered effect as each voice has a different phase.
Assign the same LFO 1 ---to---> Pan, and you add a layered pan with several voices instead of a flat left and right pan.
To recap, the assignments in the mod matrix are:
VOICE # ---to---> LFO 1 Phase
LFO 1 ---to---> Filter Cutoff
LFO 1 ---to---> Pan
I've made quite a few patches with DUNE, but I don't think I actually "got it" until I started exploring this technique.
Let me know if you guys think this is a cool tip, or just me missing the obvious
Best regards,
Gino

Re: DUNE LFO PhasesI've added a patch in case someone wants to check this out...
http://www.box.com/s/uo3h77ogao87bnfvlm5o If you load this patch into DUNE (v1.4) and play a chord, your hear that is has texture (ok, maybe too much). If you preview one of the voices by themselves, you'll distinctly hear the beats of the LFO. If you add more voices, you'll hear that the beats blend and become more of a texture. Best regards, Gino
