How do I (or can I) import a standard midi file / song and have it use the stock generators? When I do that it tries to use the PC synth. Is there a way to do that and have it mapped to Orion's synths?
Thanks.

Re: Midi Filesnot by just importing a song, you have to manually copy data to a synth of your choice

Re: Midi FilesI don't have any midi song files to try...maybe I'll see if I can find one on the web and see what happens....

Re: Midi FilesOk that was fun .....Loading a Midi Song File loads up a Midi Out plugin for each track since Orion has no multi timbral generator. You could then load up a Wasp or Sampler or Drum Rack for each part and use Options/Receive Midi from Generator to assign each track.....or as Krim says Copy each part's pattern from the Midi Out to a synth or instrument of your choice......
Re: Midi FilesThanks guys.
It might not be a complete waste of time to map GM program numbers directly to Orion instruments in that case... though it would probably take some thinking through, the mapping, there seems to be enough synths and sounds included to make it happen with multiple instances of the sampler maybe. Thanks for the tips.
Re: Midi FilesThere is a decent quality GM soundfont out there somewhere that you can load into the sampler.

Re: Midi FilesAye but the Sampler is not Multi Timbral......or Multi Channel to be more precise
Re: Midi FilesThe only software I have used that lets you load up midi files and can seperate each instrument to an individual channel is Reason.
