After having a play with Ultran this morning and banging out a few patches I thought it would be a good idea to have a thread where discussions about Ultran and it's wavetables, Patches, etc could be centralized. Mark I didn't know if this should be in Plugin Support or Tips and Tricks so please move if you see fit....
Anyway like I said I've been having some fun with Ultran this morning (Jammie's 4 Voice Choir wavetable is great by the way). I've kind of overlooked Ultran in recent years because I own so many other synths but she's still capable of producing some wonderful sounds. Of course immediately I started thinking "wow it would be nice to have per Osc wavetable, hold and blend, built in effects etc etc"...you know Super Ultran stuff......
I'll try to drop some patches in here sometime today and I hope jammie will continue his work with Ultran's wavetables.......

Re: The Ultran ThreadBeautiful machine. I use it frequently.
I think initially the problem was users got bogged down in the tech side of the osc wave tables and then could not see the synth. No need to worry - you can spend years wrenching cool sonic from this beast without creating your own osc............. ---=u f o=--- /Radiation Mutant / Snee-Nee-Iq
Re: The Ultran ThreadActually whenever I work with Ultran I find myself wishing for more.I wish each Osc had the full capabilities of the whole synth. Each Osc could load it's own wavetable, set independent Hold and Blend, have it's own Filter, Lfo's etc and I always wish for effects per Osc or at least Global........but anyway it is what it is.....
Here's about 10 presets I did today and one template that loads a Vintage Chorus, Diffuse Delay and Large Reverb...... https://sites.google.com/site/teksonik/screenshots/Ultran%20Teksonik.zip?attredirects=0&d=1
Re: The Ultran Thread
That all seems totally redundant in a synth that is bundled with a host that offers all those features. You can also add as many instances as you like, so even the point about controlling each osc separately is irrelevant. You can always save templates once you've got all that stuff set up. Re: The Ultran ThreadDon't know. But for me, Ultran is a bit outdated. The sounds don't really kick ass. I never use it.
Re: The Ultran ThreadWhat do you mean? Its a 4 osc synth with the same awesome filter as Wasp, it can do anything you want it to.

Re: The Ultran Thread Hey Thanks Tek ! Yes true maybe Ultran would need to be " refreshed " for a next Orion update !
..and good idea to share via google site !;) can you give me the " ult_jml-4-voice-choir.txt " ? i don't know why it's not in my samples folder .Did i missed a sample folder ? i guess not because i didn't get this kind of message before .
Re: The Ultran Thread
I pretty much dismissed Ultran based on the default sound-set. Have you tried the expansion soundset we received a year or two ago? Really changed my mind. I like the range of possibilities, but I think the interface and the default sounds really turn people off. Something about the way wavetables are named and interacted with, it feels like the most important stuff is esoteric and kept behind the curtain, so to speak. With each preset, there's a period of exploration required to figure out how to tweak it, and that is off-putting.
Re: The Ultran Thread
Coming from someone who thinks Dune is too complex and uses Wasp in it's place that response comes as no surprise..... When you own instruments like Alchemy, Rapture, Wavestation, etc, Ultran's simplicity becomes painfully obvious. It's probably why this is the first mention of Ultran I can remember for years...... Anyway I'd rather have everything self contained in a single patch rather than having everything spread across four instances with extra effects.............makes sharing much easier.
Re: The Ultran Thread
No it can do anything you want.......but then again your needs are painfully simple..........
Re: The Ultran Thread
The 4 voice choir was posted a couple of days ago in the Dune thread by jammie1. The download link is on page 4. I really hope he creates some more wavetables.......... http://forum.synapse-audio.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=9294&start=45
Re: The Ultran Thread Thanks Tek !
i thought for a moment to have missed a sample folder for Ultran but i've seen on download area that we don't need the Ultran content for Orion 8.5 if we already use Orion 8 samples content !So i've never downloaded and installed it !
Re: The Ultran ThreadI still use the Ultran, too. It´s very complex, so it is difficult to handle it, but if you know what sound you want, it works great.
I haven´t uploaded any of my songs the last years... damn, that must be about nine years for now. I think it´s time to upload one song, but I can´t make a decision which song I should take. I often thought about loading up on youtube, but I didn´t want to upload songs of mine to possibly reach no audience... I like soundcloud and this forum is the right place for it. Today, you read about Dune (which is clearly a nice synth) and I often think about the poor WASP, star of Orion back in "the good ol´ days". I have almost finished a new track, having the WASP as the star of the show (but sadly, no Ultran this time). I primarly work with MIDI synths and don´t think it would be that good to upload a song that was made with Orion, but doesn´t sound like Orion. Not the first upload, at least So, what do you think? "I need more details."
Re: The Ultran Thread
Huh? You'd better stay away from Alchemy then.......... I find Ultran too simplistic and think with an update it would make a great addition to the Synapse family of vsti's............
