Wave File StretchingFirst, I have been working with Orion since it's inception, moving from Sonic Foundry's Acid 3.0 way back when. Right off I was pleasantly surprised by it's user-friendly interface and loved the pattern sequencing concept. I tried all of the other VST sequencers out there, including the top contenders, such as Logic, Cakewalk, Cubase, Ableton Live, ect., but I found myself returning to Orion. I recall reading a critique in Computer Music Magazine about Orion, which was quite favorable, with the exception that you had to switch back and forth between windows during workflow, which I thought was unfair, since you have to do that with any sequencer, including Ableton Live, of which they were comparing it to. What is most gratifying about Orion is that I haven't found a VSTi that won't run in it. Anyway, that said, I do wish for a few updated improvements for my favorite sequencer... First, it would be great if you guys could add wave audio file stretching, instead of having to copy/paste into the playlist. Second, it would be nice if you could add volume and effects enveloping. Honestly, the automation can be a bit of a beast when all you want to do is fade audio. And finally, the VSTi library really should have it's own section, rather than an list that pops up in front of the workflow, like maybe a drob box or something. Other than that, for me Orion still rocks. Keep up the great work guys.

Re: Wave File StretchingRich, the developer, has looked into this a few times but he has never been happy enough with any of the available algorithms to do it. Most of them are proprietary, too, which means he'd have to pay a licensing fee to use them. His issue is with the quality of the results and while you might be happy with the sound, Orion needs to be good enough for absolutely everyone, so he doesn't want to settle for something that is just passable.
In the end it is something that is easily done in an audio editor, non-realtime. If you link your audio editor in Preferences, it is pretty much the same as using a VST. At least we can timestretch MIDI now. Dell G7 (Hexa-Core i7)|Cubase Pro 10||Analog Keys|Ultranova|MicroMonsta|Uno|Skulpt|Craft Synth 2.0|

Re: Wave File StretchingGiven the tiny market orion occupies, maybe its time he settled for something less than 'perfect'
