I agree that other seq programs are rather clunky, hence my dedication to Orion.
At the moment my system is hassle free and all my regular suspects work flawlessly, so until my utopia evaporates, I will be ok.
So, any development ideas from anyone outside of the time stretch?
Perhaps it is just a rewrite for code efficiency and continuity.

Re: Synapse audio new sequencer embryo
That is a well kept myth but it's not true. I'm learning a new DAW at the moment and I can tall you it's super fast to fire a first idea on the screen. Almost faster than Orion. Drag & Drop instrument into the session Presss Shift + Tab Edit notes - DONE! And a session view is something is was missing a lot in Orion. You can build up your tracks and variations for each instrument, combine them independantly and thus build your track which you then record in the arrangement view. That is a superb feature.
Re: Synapse audio new sequencer embryo
All you've done is prove dmassive's point........... Ok we get it....you've moved on from Orion. So move on.......... I could see the point of sticking around if your comments might make a difference in the development of Orion but at this point there is no development so..........
Re: Synapse audio new sequencer embryoAs mentioned I m8ve on in June. And I m making valid points here. Too many blind believers here.
Re: Synapse audio new sequencer embryoOrion is what it is. If you want tons of other 'features', use something else.
Look at all the forums and you will see ppl bitchin about lack of 'features' in every host. Find one that works for you and use it. Dont find one and spend 10 years moaning about how crap it is... Im pretty sure a few ppl managed to write some decent music without a computer....try that if all else fails... Windows 11 Home - 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-12400 2.50 GHz -32GB RAM

Re: Synapse audio new sequencer embryo
I'm not blind at all. I can clearly see development on Orion has stopped. Forever ? Who Knows. But I also own Reaper, Sonar X3, FL Studio and even Live 9 Lite.......so I'm not at all dependent on Orion and obviously am willing to try new things.......... I tried Live 9 Lite and immediately didn't like it but if Live is your thing then go for it...........
Out of curiosity why wait until June ? If you've found your prefect DAW then you might as well jump ship now.........
Re: Synapse audio new sequencer embryo
Because I still have a track to finish in Orion and I still have to learn the new one. Takes around 2 months to get the skills and be as capable as with Orion. That will be June then. Aaaaaaaand even more important, I joined the forum 25th of June 2005. That will be 10 years in June being part of this community. Would be a shame not to go for that. And I like the people here, nice community. And June 14th is my birthday. So the new one will be my birthday present for myself. Considering 600 EUR is not that cheap, it's worth a present to myself. : ) And folks, don't get me wrong here. I love Orion. It's great, even with it's deficits. So, it's also an emontional step to move on as I really like the Orion community. By the way, what happened to Steven West? Never heared of him again... True words, Krim.
Re: Synapse audio new sequencer embryoWe'll have to have a testimonial for you DaZoid, just like they used to do in football. I say used to since the blimming overpaid butterflies hardly ever stay at one club that long anyway
I'm sure (and hope) we'll still have the pleasure of your company after June. In the meantime, can we try to get back on track wrt the thread's supposed theme please?
Re: Synapse audio new sequencer embryoBack on the topic of the new Sequencer Rich hinted at I'd like to see some kind of midi plugin that could contain Orion's Piano Roll and Pattern Per Generator workflow. I'm not sure if that would be technically possible but I would find it useful.
Re: Synapse audio new sequencer embryo
+1 These are two of the things I like most in Orion. Most sequencers out there have cumbersome piano rolls!
Re: Synapse audio new sequencer embryoI'm so glad I've found and bought Orion. It is the sequencer which corresponds best to my perception of how modern music is reasoned. Yes, other daws might have a longer feature list. But I also see it as a strength of Orion that it focuses more to the acessability of the necessary options and tools instead of printing a long feature list on a box, resulting in confusing subsubsub menus layers of dialog boxes and big manuals like other products do.
Of course if you earn your money with your music studio and million Euro productions for the charts, you might better buy a mac with Logic and RME hardware. But for less professional purposes, Orion provides you a quick and easy way for expressing your musical imaginations. I have other hobbies and a job, and I'm so glad that Orion is so self-explanatory, that I don't have to invest much time to LEARN Orion. The only sad thing with Orion is that I haven't discovered it earlier! The marketing could indeed be improved, at the latest when Embryo hits the market. Until Embryo is ready, I would already be very glad if Orion 8.x was maintained that it will be able to run on future Windows versions and hardware. I'm not asking for new features etc. For the marketing of Embryo, I would suggest a limited SE (you could call it "Sketchbook Edition" ) with a maximum 8 Tracks, and almost no bundled synths and effects or limited vst support... This Embryo SE could be bundled as "giveaway" with Dune/Hydra/Antidote. Maybe new users can be acquired that way. Another option could be a cooperation with semiprof/"2nd-league" hardware manufacturers, with the SE version bundled on the driver CD of a soundcard or a keyboard. I'm not talking about Roland, Yamaha or RME, but I think for companies like Casio, Terratec or ESI such a cooperation could be interesting.
