Simple FR for Dune 2 - Master Tune

Postby JayFugotti » Mon Feb 08, 2016 6:05 pm

... Or I should say I believe this is a simple FR.

Working on a small portable controller and doing more work with A=432 tuning, I'd love to have a simple global master tune for both octave and fine tuning (cents), a la U-He synths. Would make life with some patches a lot easier....

Thanks!

Mod matrix again?

Const value Pitch (Semi/Fine)

Pitch parameters are found in the "Common" selection of destination parameters.

Note that amounts in the mod matrix are MIDI controllable :)

No, wasn't thinking of Mod Matrix, but just a simple Semi/Fine sliding scale (or pot) at the output stage, avoiding the potential mayham of modulation matrices (lol).

That said, the Cont-Common-Pitch MM option does a good job. The potential problem here though (at least gleaned from about 10 mins or so of futzing) is re the range of 100 for the Pitch Fine option. It seems to cover a major 3rd, which is not THAT fine to do a more precise unusual tuning (like A-432, or any other). At least in all cases. Would be nicer if this range of 100 equated to a semi-tone and thus a true cents measurement.

Thanks for your continued help Mark:)

No problem :)

The resolution of the control parameters is quite high. Even setting a modulation amount of +1 has many values in between 0 and 1. Setting pitch fine to +33 in the mod matrix should give you a semitone, or thereabouts!

Try this patch demo out to see how high the resolution is. Start with Mod wheel at 0 and slowly increase it to 100.

Out of curiosity not trying to be a smart arse but what is the appeal of working at A=432 ? Doing period or ethnic pieces ? :)

Thanks for this!

I was just going to request a Master Tune knob.

For those wondering, setup in the mod matrix is:

Destination > Common > Pitch Fine

and then also...

Source > Const

Then adjust the amount as needed. :music:
