how about a Roland SH-5 or a yahama CS-30 ?

Postby Christophe » Tue Jun 09, 2009 12:26 pm

hi,
i miss this kind of synth in vsti form because they were (with the korg ms-20) the top of the analog design.
why ?
the next synths were simpler : juno 106 or sh-101 (marketed for beginner and cheaper) or without knob and fader, or functionally
some example :
jx8p, jx10, mksxx are without the band pass filter, without knob and fader, ring modulation ...
polysix only one filer and one vco (ms-20 : two filter and two vco)
those simpler were given a chorus effect to make them sexier

if i want the same functionality, i have to rely on monster synths like Z3ta+, rhino ...

my opinion is based on articles published in sound on sound about the story of korg and roland

comment and synth welcome ;-)

The clue is in the thread title! ;)

" how about a Roland SH-5 or a yahama CS-30 ?"

At least I interpreted it that he wanted clones of either or both of them.

The SH-5 should be a good 'un though. It's supposed to be the daddy of all Roland synths.
