Just telling how I do my basses in another thread, and dawned on me it could be a handy feature for all. Many times for a pop picked electric bass, I actually manually adjust the velocities to be 50-100-50-100 on a 1/8 straight ahead bass line. So it produces that da-DA-da-DA-da-DA-da-DA type feel against the drums.
But then I'm thinking like Scale Velocities, a feature could be implemented to simply allow alternating velocities in one foul swoop at selectable intervals.
So I could go into Edit: Alt Vel see '1st Note' with a box under it, and enter 50. Below that is '2nd Note' with a box under it, where I'd enter 100. And below or beside all that a drop down time selection offering 1/2, 1/3. 1/4. 1/8, 1/16. and 1/32.
Okay, so I know the argument at this point would be 'Why not just use the improved LFO Tool that's now sync'd to tempo.' And that is certainly fine, But let me add one more option to my idea: Note Amount. Here one could select 2, 3, 4, 6, or 8. The higher the note amount, the more boxes appear in the window. So let's say go with 4 - 1st note=50, 2nd note=100, 3rd note=25, and 4th note=75
And this would repeat along the entire pattern then wheter it's 16, 64, 256, etc bars long. Now that's something I don't think the LFO Tool could do?
So the implications for straight up realistic rock bass to instant groove velocity controlled sequencer lines I think could be phenominal with this added option.
Of course it's easy to put in black and white, I know nothing of the 'nuts and bolts''.

Alternating Velocity in Edit Mode.my first answer was the lfo tool but i though you can use or create a groove template
Yamaha CS-30, Roland SH-1, Roland MKS70, Focusrite Scarlett 18i6, Yamaha FS1R, Oberheim Matrix 1000, Novation Remote 37SL, Korg Legacy, Alesis M1Active 520, Novation Launchpad Pro, Push2, Intel i7-7700HQ
Alternating Velocity in Edit Mode.I guess so too CC, keep forgetting about that as well. But doesn't really give the user flexibility other than 1 and 2 or 3 and 4, and some swing stuff. So if my idea could be incorporates somehow with that, maybe?
How does one go about making 'Groove Templates' anyways? Is it just a .TXT edit, or do special requests have to go in for Rich to add on? I should probably have a look into that, and if easy enough I'll certainly make my own and share at Reloaded for anyone who's interested.
Alternating Velocity in Edit Mode.it's a text file, very easy to understand
example for salsa groove : ' Groove Template ' --------------- ' Format: Note = position, length factor, velocity factor ' ' You can provide any number of notes, Orion will repeat ' them automatically. normally you'll use 2, 4, ..., 16 ' notes for straight 4/4 kinda beats. ' ' position is a fraction of note length, e.g. 0.5 means ' move note half a step forward. ' ' length factor scales note lengths, 1.0 means no change, ' 0.5 means the note will be half as long ' ' velocity factor scales note velocity, 1.0 means no ' change, 0.5 means half as loud etc Note1 = 0.5, 0.5, 0.75 Note2 = 0.5, 0.5, 0.75 Note3 = 0.0, 0.5, 1.0 Note4 = 0.5, 0.5, 0.75 Note5 = 0.5, 0.5, 0.75 Note6 = 0.0, 0.5, 1.0 Note7 = 0.5, 0.5, 0.75 Note8 = 0.5, 0.5, 0.75 Note9 = 0.0, 0.5, 1.0 Note10 = 0.5, 0.5, 0.75 Note11 = 0.5, 0.5, 0.75 Note12 = 0.0, 0.5, 1.0 Note13 = 0.5, 0.5, 0.75 Note14 = 0.5, 0.5, 0.75 Note15 = 0.0, 0.5, 1.0 Note16 = 0.5, 0.5, 0.0 Yamaha CS-30, Roland SH-1, Roland MKS70, Focusrite Scarlett 18i6, Yamaha FS1R, Oberheim Matrix 1000, Novation Remote 37SL, Korg Legacy, Alesis M1Active 520, Novation Launchpad Pro, Push2, Intel i7-7700HQ
Alternating Velocity in Edit Mode.Cool, thanks CC.
So it's very much like my idea there... Should've looked before I lept. :shame: And if I make or modify one, how does the title show up in OP then if I want to repeatedly access it?
Alternating Velocity in Edit Mode.it will show up because you will create a file at the right place into grooves :
C:Program Files (x86)OrionGrooves Yamaha CS-30, Roland SH-1, Roland MKS70, Focusrite Scarlett 18i6, Yamaha FS1R, Oberheim Matrix 1000, Novation Remote 37SL, Korg Legacy, Alesis M1Active 520, Novation Launchpad Pro, Push2, Intel i7-7700HQ
Alternating Velocity in Edit Mode. Thanks again CC. Will give it go.
