Maybe unusual, but I work almost exclusively in ProTools. Would really like to have direct RTAS support. The wrappers are flakey and cause lots of crashes. These plugs are too awesome not to use, but hate having to track in Logic and then switch over to Pro Tools.

Re: RTAS PleaseI think that involves some sort of licensing. Avid website indicates joining their developers program, but it's unclear what what really means, apart from numerous demands they seem to instill on developers.

Re: RTAS PleaseReally no more of an agreement than any other platform, and opens another level of customers.
It sure would be great to have direct RTAS support for these outstanding plug-ins. Even if it was only Dune, kind of like LinnPlug, or Rob Papen, or DiscoDSP only doing one or two plug-ins in that format.
Re: RTAS PleaseIt would be nice to know some more details about it.
Is it 32- or 64-bit or both? How many Win vs. Mac users? (I suppose few Windows users, especially since PT 9 seems to require Win7). In the worst case scenario, adding RTAS would mean having to maintain 6-8 additional versions including demos (win32,64,mac32,64,mac demo, win demo). But yeah, the idea is good to only offer one or two plugins for RTAS. Admin - Synapse Audio Software

Re: RTAS PleaseWrapper is now completely useless. Crashes just trying to change patches. Sadly that means that Dune will not be in my work flow. It's an amazing synth but I just don't have the time to switch back and forth from Logic to Pro Tools.
So I'll plead with you to add RTAS. Hate to lose this synth, and not just because of the money I spent, but because it's a very useful and rich sounding product. As for numbers and why to support it, well, there are fewer number than the VST market, but a higher concentration of people who respect and pay for their software, and almost every pro studio in the world is landing on Pro Tools for final mixes. That can be argued, I'm sure, but it doesn't take much research to see that it's a large percentage. Anyway, I just want it for me cause I'm super selfish. Crossing my fingers.
Re: RTAS Please
Who makes the wrapper?
Got any stats to back that up?

Re: RTAS PleaseI'm looking into it after the Orion 8 release, but can't give any ETA on RTAS support yet. I'd still like to know though whether it's 32- or 64-bit or both, though.

Re: RTAS Please
Why don't you hassle Avid to fix their flaky wrapper? Seems to me that if you are paying through the nose for ProTools, everything ought to work. Putting it on a one-man development team to fix it on a per-instrument basis seems like a poor use of available resources to me. Re: RTAS Please
Because Avid doesn't make a wrapper. It's a 3rd party, and yes, I've contacted them, but that's not the point. I'm not asking for a fix, Dune is not broken. I'm asking for direct RTAS support. I would think he might like to have more customers for his fantastic products, and this would do that. Of course, he'd have to balance that with the workload. Seems like a win/win and many other one man development teams have done just that. As for the 32/64bit question. Well, that'd be our call. As far as I know, things are cool in the 32bit land on Pro Tools. Stats to back it up. Well, I work for fairly well known plug-in manufacturer and have worked in the past for another so all I can go on is my 15 years of seeing the market from that side. So, no official stats, but lots of personal experience.
Re: RTAS Please
Hi RTAS is only 32 bit at this time, due to pro tools being 32 bit only (but that might change in future). What needs to happen with your plugs to function correctly in pro tools is one of two things; 1. Support for VST 2.3 standard because the only VST to RTAS wrapper available only supports VST 2.3 and below, and the dev of the wrapper is sort of stuck in their ways about that. 2. Native RTAS plugins Point number two being the most favourable
Re: RTAS PleaseI read PT10 will be 64-bit.
Right now PT is more expensive than Logic Studio and Windows support is limited to 7, which is still a minority of overall Windows installations. Plus a mandatory upgrade and additional development time once PT goes 64-bit. Seems better to wait. Admin - Synapse Audio Software
