Hi,
if not already implemented or planned:
4 GB Flag entry to the characteristics of the headers would make it possible to make use of 3GB RAM in 32bit Win-OS with the 3GB switch, and 4GB RAM in Win 7 64bit when using Orion 8 32bit and having installed 5-6 GB of RAM or more.
This is only a little entry, but with a great possitive impact to the performance.
Describtion from Wikipedia:
Ability to run existing 32-bit applications (.exe programs) and dynamic link libraries (.dlls). Furthermore, a 32-bit program, if it was linked with the "large address aware" option,[44] can use up to 4 GB of virtual address space in 64-bit Windows, instead of the default 2 GB (optional 3 GB with /3GB boot option and "large address aware" link option) offered by 32-bit Windows.[48] Unlike the use of the /3GB boot option on x86, this does not reduce the kernel-mode virtual-address space available to the operating system. 32-bit applications can therefore benefit from running on x64 Windows even if they are not recompiled for x86-64.
Both 32- and 64-bit applications, if not linked with "large address aware," are limited to 2 GB of virtual address space.
44) ^ a b "/LARGEADDRESSAWARE (Handle Large Addresses)". Visual Studio 2005 Documentation - Visual C++ - Linker Options. Microsoft. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/wz223b1z(VS.80).aspx. Retrieved 2010-06-19. "The /LARGEADDRESSAWARE option tells the linker that the application can handle addresses larger than 2 gigabytes."

Re: 4 GB Flag for Orion 8 32bit
If he has anything like my setup.. it's probably because of 32-bit plugins with no 64-bit variant... and Orion64 has no bitbridge (of which I'm aware). Not that I'm requesting a bitbridge.. I'm simply stating it is a limitation which would substantiate the request for as much memory as possible in a 32-bit host.
Re: 4 GB Flag for Orion 8 32bitGreat find Merlin!
Re: 4 GB Flag for Orion 8 32bit
Exact !!! I think not only I have some worthfull VSTi's with VST-SDK 2.4 32bit but are no more developed and supported. The jBridge is very good from principle but has some problems with certain plugins and is more complicated than having no Bit-Bridge. The new Waldorf PPG Wave 3.V, for example, is only offered in 32bit as well as VstWSim. Therefore I will run Orion 8 32bit and 64bit on Win7 64bit at the same time as long as it is possible. Beside this I hope I can contribute to further usefull features for Orion 8 which are not already mentioned and ragarding MIDI-sequencing, arranging, VSTi-handling and workflow.
