Re: Orion getting started seriesHyp, it's not THAT uncommon for a manual to have a "Hello World" example.
It's not really necessary, but it does take the intimidation edge off for somebody completely new.
Re: Orion getting started seriesschemlab,
grab a demo song and have a deep look into it. Take a simple one. That's one way to start. I never read the manual ever. I started from scatch. All I've "achieved" so far was by playing around and discovering. IMHO, my sound is pretty good now and I'm pretty sure I still don't know everything about Orion after 7 years working with it. But that's not that important. Orion has such an easy workflow, you should be able to find out in a couple of sessions how to do a track.
Re: Orion getting started seriesSomething in the line of this, but narrated, a bit more advanced and better quality perhaps... would be nice.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LzvMYPNI6Rk&feature=related I understand most DAW's but I know the feeling of being completely new to userinterfaces. I've used all sorts of programs for graphics and whatnot, but I always get the sence of wanting to "puke" at all available options in the UI. It's hard sometimes to know which essential functions to focus on "to get going". I have a wonderful phraze that I got from a collegue a few years ago. - "If you have to open the manual to simply get it up and running. You probably bought a bad product." Not quite true. But funny... When it comes down to mixing and getting all audio to actually sound good during and after sequencing. Now, that's a science of it's own. I'm not good at it. Takes a large bit of raw talent too. Which most amateurs don't like to admit to themselves. I try to fool myself everytime I open a DAW But everyone has to learn how to walk before they can run...
Re: Orion getting started seriesJacob/Epilogue made a video a few years back, not sure where it is now, but it was prob just waht you need.

Yes, I know, I just didn't understand what he meant. The help file used to have a tutorial section before, but seems it's missing now. I guess a good place to start (other than just diving into Orion), would be YouTube. There's even some tutorials from Boreal in there SoundCloud ::: Facebook
