Wishlist 2012 - Wishes only! (Sticky)Moderators: Christophe, Mark Re: Wishlist 2012 - Wishes only! (Sticky)i'd be happy to temporarily disable an automation in pattern view - select the automation from the drop down list - click a button -> disabled click button again -> enabled
Re: Wishlist 2012 - Wishes only! (Sticky)Hi,
the wishes I have: 1. Arrange-Window: Insert Loop-Space and all the right patterns are to the right. Delete Loop-Space and all right patterns are moved to left. 2. New own (splitted) Pattern-Window: This could have the possibilty of choosing MIDI-Channels from track without opening a Vsti GUI. Solo, Mute, Record and choosing MIDI-Channels also for "Extended tracks" Pressing Record on more than one track should also make them audible and ready to record. Vertikal starting of playback of all patterns in that line ( see Sonar X1 ). This would be the most important in my view.
Re: Wishlist 2012 - Wishes only! (Sticky)Mine is a simple one.
Allow pattern events to be copied with notes (when using CTRL+drag to copy) inside a pattern. This includes Monobass' Slide and Accent points too. SoundCloud ::: Facebook
Re: Wishlist 2012 - Wishes only! (Sticky)My biggest wish for 2012: MIDWIFE Another big wish would be a midiout module just like midwife. Has been posted here earlier, I know. Just a little reminder

Re: Wishlist 2012 - Wishes only! (Sticky)Pattern FX automation would be nice to have...
Re: Wishlist 2012 - Wishes only! (Sticky)It would be nice if Orion had automation overlayed on the track directly in the song window. This is known as "rubber band" editing in Sequoia and it really speeds up my workflow -- especially since the overlay on the waveforms allows me to see what's actually happening and when. The control is a yellow line that is overlayed on top of the viewed waveform. Double clicking it causes a little yellow square to appear where the line was clicked. The user then drags the line to the specific time and degree (ie volume) that they want and the line automatically adjusts. I've included a picture. Note also that when the ""control dot" (little yellow square) is moved a little popup window opens stating exactly where and at what level (in this case volume) I'm moving the control dot to. Also note that (in this case because of the volume adjustment) the size of the waveform itself gets larger or smaller depending on the level. It (the waveform) completely disappears when the line is at 0, and if I put the line all the way to the top of the track then the waveform actually looks clipped! This is one of my most used DAWs -- mainly because of this function. If Orion had this then I would hardly use anything else!!

Re: Wishlist 2012 - Wishes only! (Sticky)I wish drag & drop for insert and send effects.
For example, move effects insert#1 to insert#2. Simple drag & drop. YES! I know is easy at first look do this manually, but when you have a lot of effects and a lot of effects chains is painful search and attach effects one by one. "Pleeease, bring back ORION!"
Re: Wishlist 2012 - Wishes only! (Sticky)Sorry to post something yet again, but another thing that would make Orion exceptionally powerful would be the ability to have a hard drive buffer system for mixdown and playback purposes. It wouldn't be very much help for realtime playablilty, but it could help with a lot of those arrangements that go way beyond the abilities of the present technology. The user could choose a single click option that would give Orion a hard drive temporary buffer to stream to just for playback. The user could even be allowed to tweak the number and location of buffers then it could be made even faster depending on the user's system.
It would also be nice if Orion could also have a single click option to turn on a virtual memory system (much like the streaming hard drive buffer -- configurable, etc...) so that arrangements that go beyond the 1.5 GB barrier can be created (or in my most recent case, accessed! I created a song that worked at the time of creation, but Orion doesn't want to load it because of the memory limit!) When dealing with 90kz 30i bit waves it is really easy to go beyond the physical limits of RAM. I have several RAID 0 configurations of both normal hard drives and SSD drives that would be fast enough for digital streaming of at least a few of the longer tracks. If I could just tell Orion with a few mouse clicks -- "Here! This drive here is also RAM, as well as this one, and this one" or "Go ahead and directly stream this wave from the Hard disk and send the signal through the mixer, FX inserts and Bus" then my life would be REALLY good! I do believe that even Synthedit has the ability to insert a directly streaming sample module that streams directly from the hard drive. It shouldn't be that difficult to integrate one into Orion.

Re: Wishlist 2012 - Wishes only! (Sticky)'"rubber band" editing in Sequoia'
yeah, I love that style of editing fx etc too. The trouble is that a) it probably takes quite a bit of re-writing?? and b) many of the users here seem to be against it (I'm never sure why) I'd still hope to see drag & drop for samples into the sampler/drum machine That's something I'd really benefit from
Re: Wishlist 2012 - Wishes only! (Sticky)Kind daypart participants of forum of Orion.
I want at once to ask an apology for my bad English. My suggestion in relation to the improvement of mixer. It would be desirable what to the slots of "Insert" the regulators of automation were added, and what automation was the same smooth and comfortable as it admits at a volume or other regulator. From the sharp attack of channels of "Insert" unalways turns out to obtain a necessary effect, it is necessary to spend plenty of time on editing of great number of regulators of effect, in Patterns. It related to the insertion already of the prepared tuning of effect, and his smooth appearance. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
Re: Wishlist 2012 - Wishes only! (Sticky)It would be really nice to have Orion's Tempo Editing capabilities beefed up. Personally I like the current way of changing tempos over a gradual period of time, however if I need something more surgical (unless I'm missing some secret feature no one talks about) I'm screwed. Lets pretend (even though I've just spent about 30 mins actually doing this) I have a track with a total of two tempo changes.
After about 50 bars, I want it to go from 130 to 80. Then after another 25 bars I want it to go back from 80 to 130. Right now, with the event editor the way it is I've had to wage mortal combat against it to get it register the proper values. Sometimes an input would register the decline to be from 129 or 131 down to 79 or even 81, on both changes I experienced these issues, or maybe I got the proper number to register, but amazingly enough when I press play the tempo values could shift by 1 or 2 points in either direction yet it read the correct value before pushing play. Then there was the issue of making the previous 50 bars, prior to the initial drop, register the correct tempo. According to Orion at bar 51 the tempo jumps from 80 to 130 for a gradual decline back down to 80 even though I'd set the tempo at 130 starting the project. I assumed that Orion's intuition should tell Orion if my previously entered tempo is 130 and at bar 51 of the project I choose for it to be 80 after a gradual decline of 5 bars then everything before the start of the decline should be 130...even when I use the point to point line tool For the declining change. Highlight the bar from 51 to 56 click enter the desired final tempo as being 80 press enter and automatically there is an even accurate transition from 130 to 80 Then for the surgical changes. I'd like to be able to complete this operation with a maximum of four mouse clicks and 7 keystrokes. Double Click on bar 51 box pops up type 80 press enter, at bar 76 double click and type 130 press enter. Both changes are set and it only takes a matter of moments! Thank you, I hope to see this feature, or something comparable very soon. Tempo changes like this, especially immediate surgical changes, are a heavy part of the material I have planned for the future.
Re: Wishlist 2012 - Wishes only! (Sticky)Grouping tracks in folders would be awesome.
Why? In my current projects I use about 50 tracks. You can imagine the song playlist gets really messy.
Re: Wishlist 2012 - Wishes only! (Sticky)
+1 I wish that too! "Pleeease, bring back ORION!"
Re: Expand/unExpand Mixer Channels for Sampler & Drumtrack eHello,
Recently been doing a lot with assigned effects on multi channel Drum/sampler instances, Searching the forums I found that you can actually limit how many outputs are shown in the mixer at first I was excited but THEN found this is only for Vst instruments ??????? exclude me??? seems quite barmy that it's implementedfor externals but the sampler/drums/pro9 etc that are intrinsic to Orion don't have this option.. OR AM I MISSING Something? do tell.. anyway in lieu of more info I give a massive vote for the Expand/Unexpand ( or nesting??) of multi channel instruments. ALSO another shout for the Chords in the ARPEG!!!! I thank you for yr attention... yrs, matt
