Re: The Legend: Program Change / Changing Presets via midi ?Hi,
More specifically, I want to create presets and be able to load them from within Ableton Live, in live. Playing around with "PC Control", which allows you to send custom "Program Change" messages, I was able to switch presets by sending different "Sub" program changes (Bank and Program didn't have any effect). Though, the link between the index of the said Sub Program Change and the loaded preset remains very obscure, and I don't quite understand how to load a specific preset (let's say, Program 42 will load "My Custom Preset"). Any idea ? Thanks ! ps: if this can help, here's a list of sub changes and associated presets, if that may help Sub1: no effect, no preset loaded Sub2: 3 Octave Lead Sub3: no preset loaded Sub4: Ambos KS Sub5: Analog Soul RH Sub6: Init Patch FX Sub7: Acid Lead RH
Re: The Legend: Program Change / Changing Presets via midi ?Alternatively, is there a way to map the Polyphony to an Ableton Live control ?
I doubt that is possible (if not, why ? is it planned for a future version of the plugin ?), but that would allow to save all "mapped" values to Ableton Live presets.
Re: The Legend: Program Change / Changing Presets via midi ?Firstly welcome to the forum!
If you use the VST2 version, then you can simply send MIDI program change messages to The Legend. For simplicity, you could put the presets you want to switch between in a sub-folder, so you do not have to count the number precisely. Regarding parameter mapping, not all parameters are exposed to the DAW. One reason for this is that not all parameters are intended to be changed on-the-fly in realtime. Another reason is that exposing everything would make future changes/extensions difficult. Taking polyphony as an example, increasing the polyphonly in future versions would give problems if that parameter was automated somehow. Admin - Synapse Audio Software

Re: The Legend: Program Change / Changing Presets via midi ?Hi Richard !
Thank you and thank you for your answer I'm using the VST2 version (called "The Legend" whereas the AU version is just "Legend"). I'm using MIDI PC Control to send Program Change messages to it, and it doesn't work as expected. Here is a video of my configuration, and trying to explain the problem Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ZQB0t6pIcI Do you have any idea? Thanks a lot!
Re: The Legend: Program Change / Changing Presets via midi ?As far as I see, the "Sub" changes the category/bank and the "Program" changes the program in the selected category, and the "Bank" is not in use from the tool in the plugin.
Re: The Legend: Program Change / Changing Presets via midi ?Thanks Marcin
Is it the way it work on your side ? Because here, the "program" doesn't change anything, only the "sub" Changing "program" has no effect at all. Thanks!
Re: The Legend: Program Change / Changing Presets via midi ?Could you please connect output from the MIDI PC module to midi monitor and see what messages each of the three controls send exactly?
Sub should change the category (navigate through all subfolders, such as "Bass", Leads" etc.), and "Program" should change the program in the selected category. Please try also (before inserting The Legend) to set up all numbers to "1" and select some category from The Legend's preset popup. Then change program to 2 and see if that worked.
Re: The Legend: Program Change / Changing Presets via midi ?Thank your for your reply!
I've tried to insert the MIDI PC plugin (and set all its values to 1) before inserting The Legend (VST), without any effect. I've tried using the AU version again, and this time it works correctly ! The messages are displayed correctly in the MIDI Monitor. I've also written a little script that sends program change messages on a virtual port directly to Ableton Live to be sure that it didn't come from Mici PC plugin (same effect). Maybe some bug with the VST Version then ? I'm using Ableton Live 12, and haven't tried with Ableton live 11 Thanks !
Re: The Legend: Program Change / Changing Presets via midi ?Does it work for you by using "Sub" and "Program" send within the clip options (Launch section, and clip musts be playing)?
Re: The Legend: Program Change / Changing Presets via midi ?Yes, it works exactly as expected with the AU version but not the VST version.
I'm running a Mac M1, using Ableton Live 12. So I guess I should keep on using the AU version ?
Re: The Legend: Program Change / Changing Presets via midi ?Just curious, are you sure you do have the latest The Legend update installed?
Indeed in older The Legend builds vst2 version has had this issue, but it should be fixed in the latest update.
Re: The Legend: Program Change / Changing Presets via midi ?Regarding parameter mapping, it makes sense that not all parameters are exposed to the DAW to avoid complications with real-time changes and future updates.geometry dash lite It's a delicate balance between usability and flexibility.

Re: The Legend: Program Change / Changing Presets via midi ?Yes I've got the following version: 1.5 FULL / V3
I think it's the latest
Re: The Legend: Program Change / Changing Presets via midi ?
Ah, you see, that explains a lot. This is then not VST 2, but VST 3 version. The program change from midi does not work for VST 3 plugins. For Live 12 there might be some change/issue(?) about plugins listing. When VST 3 and VST 2 plugins are found, then somehow VST 2 is not on the list shown even, but VST 3 only. To have VST 2 listed, the VST 3 (and/or AU) should be removed. If you are sure you still want to use VST 2 version of The Legend, please remove these plugin files: /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/Legend.vst3 /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/Legend.component Then rescan plugins in the Live 12 and The Legend VST 2 should appear. Please note that in the future only Audio Unit and VST 3 versions will be availalbe on Mac for our new plugins (and possibly updates as well).
